Ben Nelson, known here as "Whuzzup", an original founding member of BWE has been appointed President of Hart Davis Hart. I know many of us are jsut estatic with the promotion of one of the nicest, generous, guys to every pop a cork.

Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. Appoints Ben Nelson President

(July 1, 2009 - Chicago, IL) - The Board of Directors of Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. has appointed Ben Nelson as President of the company.

Mr. Nelson has worked extensively with many important collectors and sommeliers and is a highly effective ambassador for Hart Davis Hart during his frequent travel to cellars around the world. He was the driving force behind the highly successful auction of The Fox Cellar. Held in the fall of 2008, the auction tallied $11.2 million, making it the fourth largest wine auction ever held worldwide. Prior to joining Hart Davis Hart in 2004, Nelson worked with two major New York based firms, including Zachys, where he served as Lead Specialist. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a degree in Economics.


“Ben has been an integral part of our growth and success and we welcome his leadership as President,” said CEO Paul Hart.

With the BWE convention scheduled for Chicago in 2010, maybe Ben will give us a tour of HDH and point out the red tag specials for us.

I had similar thoughts last night. Ben will certainly join us in the Convention, I'll bet my last btl on that.

He helped me about four year back with giving me the go ahead on six btls of 1990 Gazin that were up for Auction. I got the bid and the wines were pristine. Ben had removed them from the cellar himself. I've got two left and one will be opened at BWE 2010 in Chicago.

I tried to post the email photo of Ben from the HDH announcement but no luck. He does have the excutive look now, but you can tell he's surpressing a smile in the photo. Probably laughing at himself trying to be serious :>)

I hope we'll see each other sometimes soon. The 3 first BWE conventions and an offline with his company were great. I still remember that drive across the Napa/Sonoma hills in 2002.

Now Ben, you need to participate in BWE like you were doing in the past.

I Spoke with Ben this weekend and he will be attending BWE 2010 in Chi Town. Hopefully, JScott, Roberto, Dennis,"Broadway" and some other "Old Timers" will attend.

I'm really going to do everything I can to attend this Convention. Only major health issues will prevent me.

Stephanie, my loving but non-drinking Wife, will go with me. I used the promise of Oprah tickets, plus a short stay. Ben graciously offered us a spare bedroom in his apartment for the weekend.

Unfortunately,
Stephanie suffers from night blindness and doesn't drive after dark or she would be a great choice for designated driver. Oh well, plenty of cabs to get us around.
