So as to prevent DavidG from going out and buying 5 cases of just off the boat 2016 Bdx, here is an additional photo to keep him happy and I certainly hope that everyone has a happy Memorial Day (3day ;) weekend to all BWE-ers wherever you might be!

Do they have 2016s on the shelves jckba?
I'm still wondering what the status of that fellow Ted is, he supposedly had Sociando and Cantemerle in stock about 6 weeks ago but I haven't heard back from him.

Yes they are on the shelves and according to one of the guys that worked there, many of them arrived last week. Take a look online as there were some deals to be had like the Calon Segur for $98 (which is less than I paid) or the Rauzan Segla for $89 (also less than I paid) on mix 6 but they did not have full case quantities and I was told that quantities were limited to that which was on the shelves so my guess is that when these reappear, they will likely be repriced higher.

I’ll see Ted next week as he is coming to a wine group dinner of mine and can ask him in person but as far as I know, all of his 2016 Bdx were purchased from Twins and all of the wines should be here by now and I guess it just comes down to whether or not he has taken delivery of them as once he takes delivery, he has 30 days to pay for them. Out of curiosity, have you made any form of payment?

No, he said he was going to contact me for payment when they were delivered to you.
He said he had the Sociando and Cantemerle when we corresponded like six weeks ago, but I haven’t heard anything since.

Man, there isn't a single bottle of 2016 Bordeaux in the NH stores.
That's late in the season, isn't it Gerry?
Any gossip on when they will be arriving?

Jim - I would tell you to take a good look at the current Norwalk TW pricing online and see what makes sense to you and you can place an order online from the comfort of your own up and then pick it up on either your trip down or home from DC.

Nothing yet in NH.
When Nic and I talked to the Bordeaux guy at MacArthur's last week he said the boat was about two weeks away.
I've been buying out the last of the 2014 Medocs from NH.

Where are the 2016s in the USA?
Places like NH Liquor and MacArthur's have very small collections on their shelves, Zachy's has most of their stuff still on prearrival.
Is there a .750 bottle of 2016 Sociando Mallet in the entire USA?
Seems like a very slow release this year.

Saratoga Wine Exchange has a ton of 2016 in stock, including many magnums.
Edited to add - They have SM in stock at $45.31/bottle.

I received my case of 2016 Sociando Mallet in June and it ran me $36/btl + taxes. I could probably still get you that price from a couple of different sources if at all interested. And while I have yet to open any of mine, I did taste a btl back in late April when we put together a Sociando dinner and while young, it showed great promise.

MacArthurs 2016s have been in for a while, at least the ones I ordered. I picked up most of them in the spring, and the rest a month ago. Maybe they sold most of what they ordered on pre-arrival?

This has been one of the strangest releases I've ever seen.
Yes, David, the MacArthur's 2016s have been out for quite a while but they had a small offering.
Likewise, New Hampshire offered a small fraction of their usual release.
Likewise Zachy's. They offered a small percentage of what they normally offer, and most of their 2016 offering is still in prearrival, now well into September.
Strange. Where did all the 2016s go?

I took a look on CellarTracker and the few bottlings I looked up support your observation Jim. Many fewer bottles of 2016s listed, including pending, than other years. Though I suppose some people may not enter purchases at all until bottles are delivered, I would think the 2016s are all or mostly in.

It's weird, usually NH is full of the Pichons, and the Leovilles, and all the usual suspects.
I'm looking to get a case each of Sociando Mallet, Lafon Rochet, Chasse Spleen, and Cantemerle, and smaller quantities of other favorites, but these high production properties are nowhere to be found from my usual sources.

Maybe the estates held back wine, or the supply chain was a little shy about holding inventory. As I recall prices seemed a bit pumped when they were EP.

My lone single bottle of 16 Meyney took a long time to show up as well, only arriving a few weeks ago. I need to pick it up next month.

If the dollar continues to strengthen the wines will eventually make their way over here.

Interesting, Arv, I got my cases of 2016 Meyney and Tour St. Christophe from Zachy's way back in last November.
It has been really quiet and lean ever since up here in the northeast US.

Looks like the serious 2016s have arrived in NH, Gerry, although I still don't see any Sociando, damn it.
They are overpriced but will be rational when they have their 15% off sale (next month?), especially with my accumulated gift cards.

Chateau Cantemerle
Domaine de Chevalier
Chateau Leoville Barton
Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere
Chateau Poujeaux
Clos De Marquis
Le Marquis de Calon Segur

A mix of some expensive 'must haves' that I always try to grab during a good vintage i.e. Barton and de Chevalier. Other more wallet friendly favourites i.e. Poujeaux and some second wines that I believe will represent great value i.e. Le Marquis de Calon Segur and Clos De Marquis.

The Malartic-Lagraviere I have never tried but was recommended by my wine merchant. Never tried Cantermerle either but have heard good things, so took a punt.

Jim,

NH will have $25 off for every $150 spend starting on November 1st. I picked up some '16 Calon Segur and '14 LMHB last time this sale was in June. Amazing prices!

Is that $25 off or $25 gift cards for every $150 purchase.

Come on, we need a note! I ordered 6 but will always consider more.

I got like 2 cases of the 2014, which is an exceptional vintage for SM. Could not believe how cheap it was. I grabbed various tranches ar prices ranging from 26-30. All day long at that price.

I heard 2015 is just ok. Thoughts?

Cannot wait for the 2014 CJG cuvee!

Incidentally, for you value players, 2014 Lanessan is a stoopid good wine. And last of its breed. Evil has taken over.

I'm also curious about the upcoming NH promo. I'm eying the Giscours now, thanks to Jim, and want to decide when to pull the trigger.

Side question, have people received futures of Beychevelle? That and Climens are the only two still outstanding for me. Looking at Wine Searcher there is very little available at retail in the States.

My Beychevelle futures through Zachys arrived earlier this year, see 1st picture post in this thread. Who’d you buy it from?

That’s interesting as my LCHB futures order through TW arrived in early June. At any rate, email this guy Cyrus (chazzard@totalwine.com) and ask him what’s up as he runs their futures program.

My purchases were slim for ‘16s, due to an overfull cellar. 6 bottles of Vieux Chateau Certan, and 6 Leoville Barton.

My big purchase this year was a cellar of about 300 bottles of mostly ‘87-‘ 89, with a mix of Bordeaux 1st and 2nd growth, California, Washington, Burgs and then a few bottles from the far corners of vinedom. The 5 bottles of Viognier might end up in the dumpster or white elephant gifts, but all the bottles were all well stored, and the seller said the ‘87 first growths were drinking well but the fruit was mostly gone.

$129/btl at Calvert Woodley for a wine I thought was once again in the upper rung at the UGC and when compared to the pricing of the 2015, I think this represents value and I anticipate a similar upwards price trajectory albeit to a lesser extent.
