1966 Chateau Haut-Bailly
This is one of my favorite chateaux, and I will be posting a lot about it, I'm sure. The Mrs. and I did a little video of a tasting on this 1966 a couple of weeks ago. It was such a lovely wine. I would do it again. Paired very nicely with the cheeses. Excellent nose of leather, cigar box, and molasses.

Nice tasting. And quite a revelation that the wine still has that much life at age 53.

Hi JC- yes, for sure. The wine has definitely been in decline for a while, and it was not complicated, but there was plenty of character left to make it enjoyable.

I haven’t had many, but whenever someone brings one of the good 1966s to a tasting (I don’t have any wines pre 1970 in my cellar except one lone bottle of a 1964 Italian), they still are fantastic.

Hi Blanquito,
I'm definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for this one again. There was another bottle up for auction the weekend I did this tasting, but I ended up buying something else instead. I have my eyes on a 6-bottle lot of 1966 Chateau du Tertre, but I'm too nervous...the one review I found on Cellartracker from 5 years ago was not terribly upbeat about it.

Found a bottle of the 1966 Haut Bailly and will be bringing it to the Thursday night BWE Denver dinner.
