  • 2007 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Dragonstone - Germany, Rheingau (7/2/2009)
Very pale color, green apples on the nose, apples again on the palate with some lemon-lime, fresh and crisply acidic with good balance, lots of minerality, a hint of spritz, moderate sweetness which becomes more prominent as the wine warms up, short finish. Nothing complex but an invigoratingly refreshing drink on a hot summer's day. Very good to excellent.

A great summer wine at a nice price point.

Agreed, and thanks to you for putting me on to this one. Even at $18, an easy pop and pour.

These wines are very friendly towards unadorned summer foods such as: boiled lobster, steamers, grilled shrimp or fish...
as well as with marinated and spiced dishes like tandoori chicken and Malay chili crab.
I'm not surprised that the price has doubled to $18. in the last few years. It's still worth it.
A tantalizing note, David.

If we ever see the sun again this summer, Rieslings should be uncorked in celebration.
