I just received 6 bottles of 1995 La Lagune
I finally received my 6 bottles of 1995 La Lagune, ordered a year ago. They’ve been sitting in Chicago awaiting shipment, but they can’t ship direct to Colorado anymore (they have a crazy system now that first sends it to a warehouse in Napa, where the title is changed, and then it is shipped via AZ and NM to Dallas where it gets put on UPS to Denver!), so I was waiting for another solution to present itself (I finally caved and shipped it to Cheyenne and picked it up there).
Anyway, the bottles look perfect! What should I do with them?

So is it written, so it shall be done!
PS and that sure was a cockeyed transit route that they initially proposed ...

Wouldn't it have just been cheaper to get a cheap United flight into Chicago and have a fun weekend, bringing the bottles home in a carrier?
Yes I realize United is horrible, but you're probably more tolerant / acclimated to them than I am.

I’d give up wine before flying United!

Hey we drove to Cheyenne from Denver. It's a nice drive, good restaurants, bus tour of the place with a Western theme. If you have time continue to Casper and the Wyoming Dinosaur Center with the kids, I think you picked well.
Best

I had a bottle probably 6 years ago and thought it was an excellent La Lagune. Opening one now is not a problem, I guess you'll enjoy.
Can't wait to receive my 2016.

What we do for our passion!
I used to drive 80 miles each way to WV or VA to do pickups.
My current Chicago solution is to pick it up in person. I travel to Chicago on business at least twice a year and Southwest doesn't charge for 2 checked bags. I also have a buddy with an office in DC but I don't like to impose.
Anyway, to answer your question: How one and decide based on that whether to Blanquito the rest.

Re: I just received 6 bottles of 1995 La Lagune
I was driving to Fort Collins for work anyways, so Cheyenne was “only” an hour round trip out of my way. Plus there were 18 other bottles in that shipment, easing my pain.
I really owe the Attorneys General of many states a big thanks for systematically destroying interstate shipping. They’re doing far more to rein in my wine buying excesses than any efforts at personal restraint.

For my taste the 1995 La Lagune drinks well now and should stay on the plateau for a decade.

So it is ordered, so it shall be done.
I will stand up one of these bottles for a fortnight to let it settle, open it and report back.
