Trotte Vieille “Les Vieilles Vignes du Ch. Trotte Vieille”

Post by OrlandoRobert »

From Leve’s site:
Starting with the 2004 vintage, Chateau Trotte Vieille began producing a limited amount of wine, 135, numbered bottles to be exact. This limited production is made from a special selection of 100% Cabernet Franc made from vines that date back close to 150 years, “Les Vieilles Vignes du Château TrotteVieille!”

So has anyone tried this wine? I’m very interested.

I’m assuming it’s impossible to find, but if anyone knows where to find it, please drop me a line.

Luv me sum Cab Franc heavy Bordeaux.

It also states on Leve’s website that it is not commercially available so my guess is it’s a rarity that gets poured for you when you visit the estate but maybe AlexR can shed some more light on this ...

If you ever trip over the 1989 regular T-V, that is a vintage which had that leafy yet rich cab franc character in spades.

Some coworkers and I split a case of that maybe the turn of the century, and I've never found any other vintage to quite match it.

Well it would seem to me that any pre-2004 vintage bottlings might have possibly included the juice from this old vine cab franc plot so maybe your best bet would be in seeking out these older vintages where the percentage of cab franc used might be in a higher proportion ... just a thought.
