I am all for burgundy on Friday. Will bring some late 80’s Bordeaux both nights and will surprise with some other stuff as well, depending on whether I am able to get into my wine locker between now and then...

Got my manslaughter case dismissed last week, really clearing up my June schedule.
One homicide case down, three to go! I'm looking forward to some fun and recreation in DC this weekend!

Will be fun to see everyone, and handle with the DC BWE contingent.

I don't want to rule anything, but if some want Bourgogne on Friday, I guess it could be fun to have a kind of "freaks show night" on Friday : Bourgogne (white and red) and 2003 red Bordeaux!

It could be memorable... or we will just appreciate each other more, as the wines will suck?

For the millionth time, 2003 is not a bad year in Bordeaux!

People should let me know if they want me to bring Burgundy on Friday night, I really don't have to as I have plenty of good Bordeaux...just thought it would be fun. So far Noah is a yes and Nicklass is a "freak show", which I will take as a no...

Marcs, I think you underestimate Nic's level of kinkiness.
Let me know when you have a start time for Friday and I'll add it to the OP.

For Saturday, we are up to 15: Marjorie and Peggy are coming.

Reservation is for 6:30 at Montmartre, as I noted on post.

Slight chance this could shift to Bistro Cacao I will let you know by tomorrow if I can get a clear response from them

marcs, David is right.

I would be happy with Bourgogne and 2003 Friday night. ''Freaks'' are positives in my case. 2003 red Bordeaux aren't my favorite, but I wrote the wines could be memorable. People attending will always be memorable. I guess this is what I will bring anyway for Friday, a white bourgogne and and 2003... by the way I like Corton. Opened a 2005 Jadot Pougets last weekend, excellent wine, very mineral and Côte de Beaune Grand Cru style.

I emailed with them (Hamid?j early on about Saturday. Wasn’t able to get a satisfactory rate on corkage. Though they were open to negotiation, for a group of our size they couldn’t compete on price. I was surprised because the dinner you arranged there a few years ago was very reasonable.

We have enough winos Saturday night that magnums might be a good choice so everyone gets a taste. As previously mentioned, a 82 La Dominique will be present. Alternatively, two bottles. Perhaps the 86 La Lagune which I know several of us purchased.

Marjorie will be flying back from Colorado on Thursday night so she is now available to participate in the BWE events this weekend. She is now signed up for the Saturday night dinner at Bistro Bis and we will be spending Saturday night at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill.

Marcus, can we include Marjorie in Friday night dinner?

As I mentioned earlier, I will bring a bottle of Champagne each night plus some other wines as needed (but certainly older Bordeaux on Saturday).

This is becoming a mini BWE convention!
It's not too late, I'm sure the organizers can squeeze in last minute arrivals!

Yes, we can fit Marjorie in on Friday night. However, on Friday night we are just dining at a table and ordering off the menu at Montmartre, so it would be difficult to go over say nine people. We have seven now.

I have a few magnums of Burgundy but none of Bordeaux, and my Bordeaux verticals are mostly single bottles per vintage. I was going on the established BWE tradition that Friday night is for crazy stuff like Burgundy but Saturday night demands Bordeaux. But if anyone feels differently let me know and I could bring Burgundy magnums on Saturday and Bordeaux on Friday. Tell me ASAP though since I have to inform my storage facility of what bottles to pull, thanks!

Also -- confirming Montmartre at 6:30 for Friday night. As David said, Bistro Cacao was actually unfriendly this time.

I'm in the same boat as Chris.
My last two magnums of Bordeaux were sent to Denver.
I have no doubt that there will be enough to drink.
And I'm not going to fret over tasting everything that's there.
Just one of the limitations of larger groups - everyone can't taste everything.
Mostly I just want to get together with you guys.

Unlike the negative nellies posting directly above me, I have accepted the challenge and will bring two MAGNUMS of fine Grand Cru Burgundy to the Saturday dinner. Better yet, they will be a vertical of two legendary vintages, the 2005 and 2009 Bouchard Le Corton.

The Friday night crowd will have to be contented with the 2000 Pichon Baron and Pichon Lalande.

I have had a meeting come up -- is it possible to move the Friday night dinner at Montmartre to 7:00? I need to check with the restaurant but they should be able to accomodate. Thanks, sorry about the last minute change.

For Saturday, I will bring at lease one bottle of champagne to match Chris' bottle. I will bring a bottle of Bordeaux maybe a magnum. I can bring a Sauternes as I know we will have a 75 Suduiraut.

This group tend to be so generous, i really don't know how many bottles I should bring. I'm bringing 3 bottles from home, and i bought 6 and a half bottle locally. I want to bring some stuff back home. I have two flights today to think about that. Maybe i'll ask to Jim to bring some back to Maine, so that will give me the obligation to go see him.

But something is sure: i'm bringing an excellent bottle from home, normally directly aligned with DavidG preferences, to thank him to have donate two magnums of 1989 to the Denver convention. And for the record, it is a bottle i bought from Zachy in the past, with the help of PappaDoc...

I've got plenty of room in the Blue Demon, Nic.
We'll have to take the Blue Demon out for a spin to MacArthur Boulevard tomorrow.

Finally at the hotel, after 60 min delays in my flight. I ran in Montreal airport to make my connection, and i thank the US custom officer that understand and really helped me to get controlled incredibly quickly.

See you in a few hours.

Very excited to see you guys and wish I were with you tonight.

Nic, you’ve got me bristling with anticipation.

Tomorrow, I’ll bring a 1996 Clos des Goisses. Controversial wine with a bunch of great notes on CT from palates I normally trust but seriously disappointing to Brad Baker and a few others. We need a BWE verdict.

I’ll also bring a a couple of red Bordeaux (note the lack of an "s") and a Sauternes. We don’t have to open them all but knowing us...
