Another very good red Bordeaux from the very good 2014 vintage. Not so slutty as some of the riper years (2009 and 2015 for example), more like solid classic Bordeaux. Showed well at the big Conseillante vertical with Marielle Cazaux at the Embassy of France last November.

A confession or extremely secret thought, for my BD : Église-Clinet isn't that bad either! Probably any vintage.

I think it was a bit mute when we tasted it with Jean Michel Laporte at the estate in May 15, but I hear good things about it and invested in a case as recently as a month ago. It was half the price of the 2016 and less than half the price of the 2018.

I tasted 2014 La Conseillante on separate occasions in September and October 2018.
In September 2018 in Copenhagen, it was very sophisticated and refined wine, very elegant and with lot of finesse. 94p.
In October 2018 at the property, it seemed a bit disjointed with slightly jammy flavors and earthiness. 91p.
2014 Las Conseillante was last vintage of Jean-Michel Laporte, now technical directeur at Chateau Talbot.

I have a chance to get a case for under $100 per bottle.
Maybe I should just get a couple bottles.

I was at the same vertical as Chris was and found it a solid but not great vintage. Would have been very enjoyable on its own I’m sure but in a vertical with the 90 / 98 / 00 / 01 / 05 / 09 / 15 it did not stand out
BTW I thought the 2009 and 2015 were great and will end up just as good as years like the 1998 and 2000

gtfo’oh, no way!
No seriously this is why these vintages command significantly higher prices than the 2014 Marc, and I suspect that the 2014 being less exuberant may be holding something back in reserve.
When I saw the price relative to these more exalted years, and bearing in mind the burgeoning greatness of the 2006, 2008 and 2012 vintages, it was a wine I could purchase with alacrity.
