2014 Haut Batailley ITNOS

Post by JimHow »

I'm not sure I've ever had a wine from this property. I must have at some point over the years.
I uncorked one bottle from my NH heist, I have three left, which I will hold for 5-12 years.
I wish I had more! This wine is a beautiful Pauillac, just really true to the appellation, elegant, a perfectly balanced wine.
Just really lovely, i give it a solid 93 points. I see myself not letting this age for much more than a decade.

Haut Batailley and D'Armailhac are the two classified Pauillacs that mature the earliest in my experience. In most vintages they are mature by age ten and usually tired by age 30.

Haut Batailley is from the Grand Puy stable I have a couple 2010...for me not as classic as some of the other pauillac, but more lush..possibly more merlot? ..underrated label...cheers

We got the 2014 on sale for $31 plus gift cards in NH, that's just a well-priced vintage.

We had the 2015 with winona chief in your room, last June. It was excellent, even at that young age.

I think i also own some, but can't remember if it is the 2012 or 2014.

CJD,

yes, they were recently acquired by Lynch. If I recall, they held back their 2015 from EP release, and then they have increased the pricing. Scores have increased for the 2016 and 2018, but not sure if there's actually an uptick in quality. Seems like good terroir and material
