There is something liberating about pre mox
There is something liberating about pre mox
At least with White Burgundies I don't have to feel guilty about opening a wine too soon. Every Bordeaux I've opened lately needed at least 2 Blanquitos.

The Pox Sux. I got tired long ago on feeding the drain with Burgundy and Loire. Might as well light a fuse on a bomb and hope it is not going to implode.
Now I look to Oregon for quality Chardonnay. Some good Chenin Blanc in California.
I live in Reno but I do not like to gamble. Hate to lose.

When I order White Burgundy it is BTG with the assurance of a good glass.

Ha great title, Jacques!
I have opened two of my three bottles of 2014 Mikulski Merseault etc this summer, most recently with my aunt and uncle in the Berkshires, they have both been STUNNING.

I hear you Glenn. but I drink them young now and I enjoy them. My oldest bottle of White Burgundy is probably a 2014.
For me it's worse to wait ten years and sometimes longer on a great growth Bordeaux and finding a tannic monster in the glass (examples a 2008 Vieux Chateau Certan and a 2010 Branaire Ducru the last two weeks)

I like Mikulski, Jim and IIRC you had the Poruzots which is a great terroir.

I'm happy to have exposed the BD to the 2014 Mikulski Poruzots, mid June 2019 in DC. He seems to have liked the wine.
Nextvtime, it will be to some Buisson-Charles.

2014 white Burgundies are amazingly good young. I underbought (sigh).

I liked it as well. I can't bring myself to buy much white burgundy except chablis due to fears of premox but that bottle was a winner.Nicklasss wrote:I'm happy to have exposed the BD to the 2014 Mikulski Poruzots, mid June 2019 in DC. He seems to have liked the wine.

Re: There is something liberating about pre mox
I quit white Burgs over 15 years ago due to premox, but I am finally beginning to come back. It’s tough because I still have memories of the heights they can reach with age, but I’m not willing to take the risk. So like Jacques I plan to drink them young and look on the bright side of what they can still offer.
Re: There is something liberating about pre mox
I’m having good luck so far with my 2010s. But 2014 is one of my favorite vintages since all the way back to 1978. No problems with the 14s so far but I’m not too optimistic for the long term so I’ll drink them young, like you all. Maybe hold back a tiny percentage just in case they survive.
