Off Topic Heart procedure, on the shelf.

Well I just got home from the hospital this morning. Yesterday's heart ablation procedure went well except for a bump in the road a few hours after the procedure. Luckily it was painful but quickly resolved. The bad news is no wine for a week. I know a few BWErs have undergone this procedure so I am hoping for good results.

Bill:
Indeed, take it easy and slowly get back to wine and a better heart.

A week without wine might seem like a long time, but your successful procedure should give you many more years of wine enjoyment.

Speedy recovery Bill, you’ll feel like a new man in two weeks.

Best wishes, Bill.

I’m curious what your cardiologist is telling you long term after ablation (I assume for a.fib.).

The most cautious ones advocate no alcohol forever. Others set an arbitrary limit, such as 3 glasses a week. Yet others say drink as much as you want until you trigger another episode.

Stuart, prior to the procedure my cardiologist and my Electrophysiologist said no more than two glass and they weren't talking 2 BWE glasses either. I have no instructions on drinking after the procedure other than don't drink for a week by the discharge nurse. I'll address that issue during my post surgery visit. I will say that alcohol never has been a trigger. Stressful situations seems to be my biggest trigger. On the other hand, I have a few more heart conditions beside Afib though at this time all other seem to be stable.

Take care, Bill! Lots of sage advice on here.

Although Stefan finds the reasons inscrutable, I go through a voluntary (that's the inscrutable part) ~3 week alcohol fast once a year. Did my most recent one starting in late July. It's only the first couple of days I notice anything is out of the ordinary.

I have extended my August fast into September, mainly because I just picked up another murder case and I just have had to go into like a military regimen.
I hope you're feeling better soon Bill and back to enjoying retirement with wine and relaxation!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Jim, I'm headed back to Hawaii in October so this should not slow down the relaxation aspect. Patrick, I usually do two four week fasts and one two week.

Ah that’s right. This will be a piece of cake then.

That is great to hear Bill. We missed you this week when local cadres met.
