best auction house for thinning my collection?
best auction house for thinning my collection?
I have about two cases I'd like to sell, preferably not having to wait too long for payment and would like to minimize transaction fees. Does anyone have a suggestion of which retailer or auction house would be best for that? Thanks
Re: best auction house for thinning my collection?
I’ve used 3 different auction houses and was happy with them all:
Acker (Before Rudy. I wouldn’t use them now.)
Heritage
Hart Davis Hart
Each time was >20 cases so I’m not sure that terms would be the same. Winebid seems to be the place for small lots, ones and twos of individual wines. Depending on what you’ve got a DC retailer might be interested.

Do you want money or do you want different wine? If the former you will have capital gains taxes due (is it still 25%?). If the latter, you might consider David's suggestion of contacting a retailer.

I agree with David and Stefan on this one, with only 2 cases I’d say to contact Phil Bernstein at MacArthurs and see if you can’t work something out.

Most auction outfits have a minimum value requirement per consignment. K&L’s is $5000 I believe.

Just email Orlando Bobby your list, he is like one of those lonely old ladies with too much time and money that stay glued to home shopping network all day buying random shit they will never need...except for him it's wine and he does need that.
