Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
Next I need to get professions and nationalities of each of the attendees, as several of the properties have requested.
Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
Can’t wait. Thanks Jim et al. for pulling this together.
I’ll just add that much of this wouldn’t have happened with the BD’s clout — after having ignored entreaties from the rest of us for a visit, 1st Growths we’re scrambling to accommodate us once it was Jim reaching out.

Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
This is incredible! I can't wait. Hadn't seen it all laid out in detail like that before, what an amazing itinerary!
Thanks to Jim and others for putting this all together!
Love the (relatively) relaxed day planned for Wednesday too, that will be key in preparing for First Growth Day on Thursday which should be one of the many highlights...cool too when even the rest day features something like the PLL lunch that would otherwise be a highlight of one's wine life.

The only thing I did this time was arrange the bus, kudos to everyone to put this together!
Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
A very impressive lineup indeed! I am sure everyone will have a great time.

Congratulations to the organizing committee. This is just fabulous! I'm very sad I couldn't make it. I think you'll have a great week.
I live something similar in 2015 and can just recommend to everyone to enjoy every minute.
The most important thing: no silly questions this time during the visit, as only "serious" BWEers are attending!

Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
A great itinerary indeed.
I want to get my literature to the printers and emails out to chateaux confirming our visits:
Still looking for the following information:
Michael, can you give me your occupation as well as Nalan's last name plus occupation.
Also, Timmy, what should I put down for occupation?
Alex, you are a "Retired _________"?

Jim
Just a clarification.
Wendy’s “real” name is Lu WeiXing as the Chinese put the surname first. Her English name is Wendy Lu.
Wendy is not an official name. Bit confusing I know.

BORDEAUX WINE ENTHUSIASTS: A BRIEF HISTORY
“Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts” (also known as “BWE”) is an international wine website devoted primarily to the wines of the Bordeaux region of France. We have members from every continent on the globe.
We are located at: http://www.bordeauxwineenthusiasts.com.
BWE has been in existence since February 2000. In 2020 we are celebrating our 20th year anniversary with a weeklong visit to Bordeaux. There will be 20 of us participating in the trip.
For two decades BWE has provided some of the most lively and insightful discussion of Bordeaux wines that can be found in the world. We have had the privilege of meeting some of the world’s greatest winemakers. One of the hallmarks of our site, however, is the lifelong friendships that have developed over the years. We have gathered at dinners, wine tastings, and other events on many occasions at locations all over the world. Each year for the past 20 years we have met in a different major city for an annual three day weekend at the end of March in which we have scheduled events featuring the top wines of Bordeaux. This will be the third visit of our group to Bordeaux, the prior two occuring in 2005 and 2015. The group is known for its friendliness and generosity, with members sharing the best wines of Bordeaux each time we meet. Our visit to Bordeaux in March 2020 promises to be a memorable celebration of twenty years of wine and friendship!

Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
Should we think of themes for the Sunday and Friday dinners?
I have a few ideas
1) as many of the BWE woty as we can lay our hands on
2) Baron vs Comtesse shootout, or super second shootout
3) ABB - an anything but Bordeaux dinner

Re: ***THE BWE FRANCE 2020 ITINERARY***
Let’s bring lots of great Bordeaux to the dinners of the 20th anniversary of Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts.
I find that the Anything But Bordeaux nights are always the weakest nights of our conventions.
No need to limit ourselves. It is the 20th anniversary of BWE.
I encourage bringing interesting, thrilling wines that will wow fellow attendees.

Will I be summarily executed if I bring a 2003 Pontet Canet??
I am actually keen to see if it tastes the same to others as it does to me.

Sounds good, Claudius.
If people want to bring BWE wines of the year that's fine.

Are we talking about BWE France or BWE DC? I don't see myself hauling bottles all the way to France but definitely have plans about many bottles to bring to BWE DC.

I hope we can aim a bit higher than Pontet Canet 2003

At a minimum, marcs, the Sunday and Friday dinners are BYO. You could certainly buy wines once you get to France...

Yes, and I expect the standard will be high as is the usual for these things. I plan to bring a case of wine to cover me and my brother.Tom In DC wrote:At a minimum, marcs, the Sunday and Friday dinners are BYO. You could certainly buy wines once you get to France...
I’m open to themes, but vote for mature stuff given all the young wines we’ll be having during the day.

No worries the PC has your name on it.
Will also bring an LLC or Haut Brion.
