Harry's CduP book is on the way...

Post by DavidG »

This bit of good news arrived in my in-box this morning. :)

Dear David Glasser,

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you on the printing progress,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PRINTING IS FINISHED!

All books have been printed and will be bound and shipped by sea this week. Because they are printed in Hong Kong, it takes a while for the books to arrive at our distribution centers.

We hope to start delivering books in the last week of July in the USA and Canada, and the first week of August outside the USA.

Publishing this book took more time than we expected, without compromising quality. Especially the last few months were tough. We had many unexpected challenges to anticipate to, but we are certain the end result will amaze you as much as it amazed us.

Your patience will be rewarded soon...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Harry & Phil Karis

Just returned from my trip to Santa Barbara to finalize things for the distribution of the book. All books for USA and Canada will be send from SB where I have a book storage place.
Sorry for the delay of delivery. So many complex processes and issues to deal with....and hard nuts were cracked financially. No time to relax 'yet'....

Now I realize why not many writers publish AND distribute themselves ......... tremendously time consuming.....and frustrating because I am out of control regarding some processes (unexpected delay of printing, shipment etc). But I am pretty confident that the end result will compensate the pain. I received a few first copies by airmail and must say that I am more than happy with the final result.
Besides, another product will be added soon: a small handy booklet contenting more than 500 Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines (red and white) with useful information concerning:
- grape varieties %
- aging process (use of oak or otherwise, period)
- age of vines
- style of winemaking
- wine character
- aging potential
- price indication
I think when you have the latter mentioned general CdP-info per wine (one row for each wine) you will be more able to distinguish styles and discover preferences.... very practical when 'shopping' ....I think.....

I will not have an e-book (yet?) but we are working on an online version you can consult - with a fast search engine. The book is about 2.6 kg and therefor less suitable to travel with.

How did you ever succeed in buying the book? I tried at least a half dozens times and was always thwarted by the e-commerce software....

I think I finally opened a PayPal account and linked it to a temporary credit card number generated by my bank. That was before they fixed it so you could (presumably) order with any old Visa or MasterCard.

Congratulations, Harry. We have all been waiting for this.

He-Who-Shall-Not-Here-Be-Named likes your book a lot. He posted on his site

"Finally....have received, read, and reread Harry's Opus on Chateauneuf-du-Pape....a truly brilliant book....and just fascinating on so many levels....nothing like it has ever been produced.....a singular achievement.....my order for 20 more copies is going to him this afternoon....he is self-published...putting his money where his palate has gone....anyone who has ever enjoyed one of these Provencal elixirs should show him a little love....he has published this with his own money going against a perfect world-wide economic storm...here's to HARRY!!!!!!!

A few people have received them (not me), but the bulk of the books are just now arriving in California. Should be shipping "soon."

David, I checked and the status on your order says.......... dispatched ... haven't you received a notification email.......anyway, I am confident that the book will be delivered soon by UPS. We had to change the shipper because USPS really messed up..............
Rick, your order shows a dispatched status as well and I am sure you will have the book before the BD gets it.......

Mine arrived this afternoon as well. It is absolutely gorgeous and comprehensive. I've only had a chance to read a few pages and skim some of the chapters, but Harry's passion comes through clearly in his writing. And it is amazingly up to date for a text, including data as recent as the 2008 vintage.

Well done, Harry!

The map looks like a great reference for visiting Chateauneuf, and folds to fit nicely in the pocket. But it is not something you would frame and mount on the wall as an "arty" sort of thing.

I unpacked Harry's book yesterday. It looks unbelievable! That's an incredible amount of work involved, Harry. I'm going to spend more time reading it this weekend, I want to be the first to review it on Amazon.
