A Yuuuge thank you to the DC crowd..

Post by JimHow »

Sorry about the late note but it has been a crazy week here in Maine.
I just really want to thank David, Marcus, Noah, and everyone else for making our trip down to DC so special.
This is a very committed group of Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts!
The dinners were superb, the wines were off the charts.
The generosity is absolutely awe-inspiring.
It was great to see Marie-Claude again, Nic, and my lunches at Black Salt and Old Ebbitt Grill with Stefan and Lucie are always one of the highlights of my year.
I'm immensely grateful for the hospitality shown to us by the DC contingent, and I can't wait to do it with you guys again soon!

Yes; just under the wire. It was a great convention. Thanks again, guys.

Maybe the last (in-person) BWE Convention ever.

We need to revive the virtual live tastings, but now with video so we can all see each other.

Sob!

Lyle brought some photos along from the 2001, 2002, and 2003 conventions.
Very poignant, actually, the memories created here.

Incredible Lyle Lovett do on Nic...WTF no barbers in Chicoutimi? Too cool for me to sport a look like that but I guess you need some hair to pull it off!!

It was a fun dinner. Peggy took some pics which I will get up sooner than later. I was disappointed that Lyle did not favor us with a few tunes. The 3L of 86 PLL was my wine of the night though it had lots of competition. Thanks Noah and Courtney for your generosity.
It was great to see so many new faces as well. Finally, thanks again to Marcus for his organizing efforts; I know how much work it is.

Yes, a memorable weekend, before the World collapse to Covid.

Again, thanks to everyone for that time.

And Jay, you missed it in 2019, but Lyle sang a bit in Denver...

Jim et al, thank you for this thank you. Means a lot. I had a strong premonition that the Coronavirus situation was going to be very bad (although unfortunately not enough of a feeling to aggressively redo my retirement accounts). So I had a sense that these dinners were going to be our last in-person party for some time to come, and wanted it to be great -- and it was great. Thanks to everyone for coming and for the spirit of true BWE conviviality.

My only regret is that I was too tipsy/engaged with socializing to execute on my plan of blinding JIm on the 2000 and 2005 Grand Puy Lacoste at the Saturday dinner -- and then I forgot to grab those unopened bottles afterwards so I can't even drink them in quarantine! Oh, well, nothing's perfect!
