I also bought a bottle of 1978 Léo Barton in that obscure winestore in NY State in 201w for... 60$.

It was excellent in a classic style.

For those searching for the 2016 Leoville Barton, the Wine Cellarage has a case at $125 and 2 cases at $127 on pre-arrival and if you subscribe to their email list, you can get 10% off your 1st purchase ...

In part due to Ian's recommendation I just picked up some of the 1999 at $90/bottle all in at auction, kind of steep given prices on glamour vintages but we'll see...the 2004 was one of my favorite LBs ever (maybe the best I have ever had) and it is an obscure vintage as well.

I thought the Langoa Barton held its own with the Leoville Barton at the 2016 vintage UGC tasting. Seems like the Barton family knows what it's doing. I must say though, It's hard for me to pay 110+ for the 2016 L-B.
When I bought the 2016 on futures, it hardly felt like a bargain even at ~90.

Leoville Barton, Pichon Baron, they just don't produce many disappointing vintages, do they, at that bend in the road.

Me too. The 16 Langoa was one of the few wines I bought after the UGC.

Amen, brother. LB has been great throughout my lifetime, and PB was very good even in its down period.

From what i have tasted from the 2017 vintage, Langoa Barton and Léoville Barton were quite successful too.
