The 2016 La Fleur de Bouard has been uncorked....

So much for my May fast.

I like to drink these wines young, like upon release. Let's see how it performs in the 2016 vintage.

Two enthusiastic thumbs up on this wine. Medium bodied, no sharp edges, great fruit. Nothing overdone here. No reason not to drink this young. I'm sure it will age for a decade or more but I don't see where it gets better than the ripe, fresh fruit it is showing right now. 92 points.

Sounds like a nice weekday QPR.

But I’m waiting for the AFWE to send Orlando Bobby to perform an exorcism.

For my palate I’ve had good luck with this estate, whether from bigger vintages like 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015, or 2016, or softer vintages like 2012 and 2014. This may have been my favorite of the group.

We had another 375 of the 2012 La Fleur de Bouard a couple nights ago. A nice, moderately rich, uncomplicated very merlot wine. Got a whole bunch of these for cheap a few years ago when MacArthur was remodeling the store - everything on the floor was 20% off.

Jim will not be drinking anything remotely close to this when he is in Orlando.

JL!
Great to hear from you, hope all is safe and sound.
Yes I've consistently liked this property from multiple vintages, I like them young.

Jim, I have a lot of time on my idle hands these days. So definitely time to play on the net. Though I will be busy tasting hundreds of 2019 Bordeaux wines in the comfort of my home. It is a brave new world, isn't it?

I am happy to see that now you like many of my fave Right Bank wines!

I think the Bobbys will have no more luck than Father Stefan exorcising the Burgundy demon.

Yes, but reading about it would be fun!
