TN: 2005 Taupenaut-Merme Passetoutegrains

We've had a summer-long heat wave in the Northwestern US. This is one red wine that is quite refreshing.

Nice nose that is a mix of raspberry and strawberry, that with air has a little bit of liqueur-like sweetness but is very fresh. In the mouth this opened up with nice clarity and concentration of red berry and cherry flavors....with a slight tartness and drying finish early on that disappeared....and then it was quite silky but lively at the same time. It has a little structure to it, although not in the tannin sense, more in an acidic sense. At $8, this was a good value. 86-89.

Hi Jon,

I'll be presenting something at the TMS meeting in Seattle next year(14-18 February 2010 I think). I know it is long ahead, but maybe we can plan something together, in the city, at wine producer, or anywhere else you might like. It has been a long time since the convention in DC 07. Please, E-mail me at nicklas$47$@$hotmail.com (remove the 3 $ signs).

Nic - Sounds like the makings of a plan. An inaugural Seattle BWE offline!
