We are going mask-less up here in Maine now.
If you've been fully vaccinated, you don't have to wear a mask, anywhere....
I went totally mask-less in the supermarket this evening for the first time in over a year.
Fenway Park is going to 100% full capacity this weekend....

Getting lots of private messages on this, this will be a highly attended weekend.
I strongly encourage all BWEers to attend, you have now had plenty of notice.
You will be very sorry if you don't attend.
All of the original BWEers will be there, including the mighty Stefan, an incredible accomplishment now in this, our third decade of Bordeaux Wine Enthusiasts....

At BWE Denver ‘19, some us gathered for F-I-V-E wine events over 4 days consecutively.

Glad to hear you and Nalan are coming, MP.

I was actually going to offer this to anyone who needs it. With Domaine Storage, I can climate control ship my wines for $30 per case from any of their locations to DC. They'll do pickups in the general area near (I.e San Francisco) It can take 1-2 months but this should work out well during the summer.

For anyone else who is interested in the above shipping, their locations are Napa, Chicago, St Louis, New Jersey, and soon Ft Lauderdale.

I can also help people with fedex shipping if needed, although thats about to get dicey for a while with the weather.

Please contact me directly if anyone wants one of these options.

I pulled the trigger on our flights, so we are a "definite."

It is quite impressive how many have already committed to attending. We are definitely looking forward to seeing some familiar faces again, and meeting many of the newer faces. I think it's been 5 (or more) years since we last were able to attend an event.

Mrs. Vino is a wise woman.
The rates today look pretty reasonable.
Our usual haunts from Thursday to Sunday on average are:

Washington Hilton: $167 per night.
Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill: $245 per night.

There are also some solid Marriot's as well in that price range. Or 35k points per night, which a lot of people have. I always like to stay at a residence since they have glasses and kitchen. Just an option to consider.

Which Hilton is the Washington Hilton? Is it the Washington Capitol Hilton? I do not get a $167 price at any Hilton when I check.

The Washington Hilton is out on Connecticut Ave., where Reagan was shot.
We've stayed there before.

The rate at the Washington Hilton is even cheaper, $156, if you are staying only Friday through Sunday.

Likewise, the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill is only $205 per night if you are doing only Friday through Sunday.

The Hyatt has been closer to the restaurants booked in recent years by Marcus and David, and, of course, is a short walk to Charlie Palmer if we decide to do the Saturday night event there.

I think Hyatt would be our choice if for nothing else that mrs vino, due to work, enjoys Globalist status with Hyatt. They have a lounge which we might be able to occupy for the usual BWE antics.

Yeah I agree, I've stayed at both.
The Hyatt is nicer, it is literally in the shadow of the Capitol.
The Washington Hilton brings back great memories from my days in politics, but some of the rooms there are getting older.
I'm for the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, it looks like we can cancel anyway if we change our minds.

I just booked at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill for Thursday through Sunday.
400 New Jersey Ave., N.W.
This has been a BWE base hotel in past DC conventions.
We can cancel anytime up to 24 hours before the stay.

I just looked at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill for arriving Friday, departing Monday, and I'm getting a member rate of $215. Is there a secret code for the $205 rate?

Your average rate depends on the days you book, Jon, so that's why it's different.
Staying Thursday night increases the average nightly rate by about $50, but that's okay.
