Plus no Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from anywhere else.
Guess what? Lots of very good red Bordeaux! Top two were 1982 Canon and 1982 Lynch Bages (I was supposed to bring the 1985 but grabbed the wrong bottle from my cellar). Next were very good 1988 Troplong Mondot, 1985 Canon and 1996 Montrose. We also had a very nice Taittinger Prelude Grand Cru Champagne, some Loire Chenin Blanc and an excellent German Riesling dessert wine. Funny how all these Burgundy fanatics have great collections of older Bordeaux.

Well done, Winona Chief. Very well done, indeed.

Sounds like a great night, Chris.
I've always felt that good older Bordeaux, is a lot closer to burgundy than they are nowadays.
I wonder if I know any of the guys in the burg group, remind me to ask you Sunday.

Love 82 and 85 Canon. Sounds like a great night.

The Chateau Canon from the 80's are classic and delicious.
Personnally, i broke the rule two times for our own Anything but Bordeaux Friday night dinner, during BWE convention. Once with a delightful 1996 Chateau Montrose, and a second time the first time i met Noah, with a 1985 Chateau Gruaud Larose.
By the way, it is dangerous to expose Bourgogne lovers to Bordeaux: Bordeaux is already expensive enough, don't convert the Bourgogne guys to Bordeaux, that will means less for us, and at even higher prices...

Re: DC Burgundy Group Does Anything but Burgundy!
Thanks; sounds like a lovely evening.
My first auction purchase was when I was living in Geneva in the early nineties. My French at the time was lousy, and I was, I thought, bidding on a case of 1985 Latour. Instead I ended up with two cases of Canon 1982. Still have a couple of bottles; all delightful.
