Re: OMG cont'd...
How many people are drinking these treasures each evening? And how was the 1977 Dow? I need to get to London sometime...

Re: OMG cont'd...
All these wines were served blind by Alex between six of us including him. The DDC, the best palates in the room including Sarah thought was from Spain/Sherry, which tells you basically what you needed to know about that wine. The Port, a Dow ‘77, served by Alex at the end was just magnificent, translucent and spellbinding. The three dry reds were wines one, two and three, all clearly high brow wines based on the nose alone and the depth and class. Wine one was flirting with perfection and emerged as the group favourite but nobody guessed what it was and some leant right bank. Wine two had a great entry but was a bit clunkier by comparison, while wine three was more exotic and the most youthful of the three. Some of us guessed correctly that they were from the same vintage and honed in on 2001 as the most likely candidate. So wine one was revealed to be Ch. Margaux 2001, a complete wine drinking ever so well and eclipsing the 2006 we tried at the Chateau earlier that day. Wine two was Mouton - on its own it would have been great but it was outclassed in this company, and wine three was Cheval Blanc, a wine which you can wait on too, it is so young still. We are going there this afternoon.
