Sitting around Fairbanks now for five days before the trial (supposedly) resumes on Tuesday.
We ordered a very lovely 2015 Kistler pinot noir last night at LaVelle's, youthful, spicy, lively, drinking well now, lovely spicy aromatics.
Very nice.

You are drinking well in Fairbanks. I think that wine would be difficult, in not impossible, to find in Detroit.

Wow! That's a wine I haven't thought of in years. It's kind of reassuring to hear it's performing well. Tough to hear the challenges you're facing to ensure justice for your client. I agree that things are truely f*cked up right now with common sense be damned.

Lavelles has quite an extensive wine list, 20 pages!

Only one Bordeaux on the entire list!?! But it’s 1999 Yquem, and at a very sweet price!

Wow I missed that, and it looks like its a 750!
Lavelle's is excellent, great dishes, it is busy seven nights a week.
We like Fairbanks. There's a happening little restaurant scene.
Jazz bistros, brew pub restaurants, tasty little pizza, Thai restaurants.
It seems somewhat recession-proof as a state university town, and there is a significant tourist population, many from Asia.
It is an Asian good luck tradition to be conceived under the northern lights.

Nice selection of wones for such a remoted location.

I never had a Kistler, but remember their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have always been rated positively by the WS magazine.
