2 Biodynamic vineyard wines

Post by Claret »

Smoked a turkey on the Weber for the Super Bowl and opened 2017 Walter Scott Gamay, Arlyn Vineyard and 2015 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Turckheim. Both are farmed biodynamically and performed at the head of the class.

The ZH Riesling was a cross between a high quality QBA/Kabinett and a trocken. Off dry with initial petrol then morphing into a lime earth pie, with guiding acidity and medium body. I drink a lot of German Riesling, this was a rare treat from Alsace for me.

The Walter Scott was Gamay clearly at Cru level. Crunchy and medium bodied with classic Gamay character and soil expression. Ken's first Gamay vintage from this awesome site. The best Gamay outside of France? Fantastic!
