I love the 1999 Yquem, I must have drunk 10 or so half bottles of it over the years and always thought it was delicious in a lighter less concentrated style. Enjoy!

Yes, Yquem 1999 is really good and more approachable young than Yquem usually is. I think I still have one bottle.

Stefan, can you contact our good friend Father Damien? I'm worried about your "pinot noir" buying habit, and holding...

I found a new store to check out last night. I was surprised to see quite a large French wine display section out front, but no Bordeaux. Further back in the store, on one of the shelves, were the Bordeaux. They have a few items of minor interest but nothing that stands out. The (young female) store owner offered me a pretty good discount right off the bat. I think she said 2016 Senejac for $20 or $21.
I bought a single bottle of 2011 Ch. Castera to try. If it's any good I'll go back and get a couple mixed cases of Cru Bourgeois.

I had the 2015 Ch Castera a couple of times. It was good, but very light bodied. Improved more on day 2.

It is true, Nicolas, that these days we drink more PN than cab based wine. That is a reflection of what we eat these days. But Bordeaux remains our first love. Tonight we drank 2000 Calon-Segur because we ate lamb chops.

Great shot Joel. The 2009 Chateau Suduiraut is fabulous. Not that far from Yquem in complexity and and balance. I never thought do from the other vintages i had from that Chateau, but the 2009 rocks!

I took a ride over to Spring Lake, NJ today to take walk around town with my wife.

We stopped in at the Bottle Shop and walked out with:

1 x Chateau Cantemerle Haut Medoc 2015
1 x Chateau Giscours 2015
1 x Tesseron Cognac Lot No. 76
and a bottle of Prosecco that my wife found interesting

They seem to have a very nice selection.

I rarely go to Total Wine but I was over in the McLean VA area and stopped in. Picked up a 2009 Lynch Bages for $238. Clerk there showed me how to work their discounts! And since I was in the area, I stopped off at a little store called Chain Bridge Cellars, small but interesting selection. I picked up a 2010 La Pointe.

Great pickup Chris! I like the style a lot and 375's are great for popping anytime. Mind I ask how and where? I used to buy 750's at Total Wine for $32 but the price has jumped up into the $40's. At that point there are a lot of other options.

Heroic buying there Joel, that takes a lot of guts and bravery; well done indeed.

I bought a sixpack of Mascarello Monprivato Ca d’Morissio Riserva 2006. I’m going to remortgage to pay for it, but hey it is a good time to borrow with real interest rates at like -7%.,

HA! not a bad guess actually Nicola. Pre auction house fees and you were very close. Total bill was 3600 all in for that 24 bottle lot. The Burgundy prices were "reasonable" as well. Compared to market rates at least.

I like your technique of lowering the average per bottle price by "throwing in" d'Issan.

Probably the 1997 Jadot Chapelle Chambertin was the least expensive Burgundy by quite a lot. It also might be the best of the lot. Jadot hit multiple home runs in 1997. I rarely see them now.

So i've been chasing down that wine for a while now. hard to come by. Funny enough, my first time meeting David and Eric/janet was at that December 2019 Burg tasting that Marcus organized. The 97 Jadot Chapelle that Corey brought blew me away. WOTN for sure. Couldn't pass them up at 161 all in per bottle. Very reasonable, all things considered. Hopefully they live up.

And actually, it was, but not by much. The 2008 Jayer Gilles was around 187 per. The 2009 was amazing. My First epiphany red burg.

I must be getting nostalgic or something with all my wine purchases of late. Time to go back to the buying freeze or I'll find a reason to buy every wine i've ever tasted.

While PJ’s is not like it was back in the day when Justin Berlin (whom some of you have met) was running it, they still seem to get some good wines and if you can combine that with a sales promotion or their yearly at cost sale (# of bottles based on prior year purchases), you can more times than not end up with a few deals.

I think so, Arv. Price was $472.50 all in. Strangely, 6 1996 D'Armailhac went for $551, which was way more than I bid.
