TN: 2013 Pierre Bouree Chambertin
TN: 2013 Pierre Bouree Chambertin
In a nutshell: meh.
I bought this at Acker last month for $100, actually they still have 4 bottles and I only opened this to see if I wanted to buy the other 4. It is ok, nice nose and pretty color but it is more of a decent 1er Cru quality than a Grand Cru. It is very acidic but that is tempered by having it with food, it has a nice core of fruit but the structure is weak and the finish is short. I've had much better wines for the price. Gilman for some reason gave this 95 iirc, I think it's more of a 89-90 range. I won't buy more.

So why do you assume that the bottle contained Chambertin?

I don't get the joke.
Re: TN: 2013 Pierre Bouree Chambertin
Oh I'm sure this wasn't a fake. It was a good wine but not a bargain or a 95 point wine.

Ah ok now I get it.
Re: TN: 2013 Pierre Bouree Chambertin
Well, crap. I have 6 bottles of 2012 Pierre Bouree Charmes Chambertin, bought largely on the strength of Gilman’s 94+ pts.

It wasn't a bad wine, Patrick, actually it was enjoyable. I just expected more from such a terroir.

I’m gonna give mine another 5 years and then try one at age 15.

Looking at some of the posts on Wineberserkers, which has some guys who really really know Burgundy, they seem to be under the impression that outside of Rousseau Chambertin can be a little tricky. They also seemed to think that Chambertin Clos de Beze is more reliable

Good plan, Patrick. I don't recall ever being impressed by a young Chambertin. But when Chambertin reaches full maturity, it is often fabulous.
