Just bought 6 bottles of the 2013 Wind Gap Woodruff Chardonnay* for $1.67 each! Eat your heart out 2 Buck Chuck.

*Not had the ‘13, but I’ve enjoyed many bottles of Wind Gap chardonnay from ‘08-‘12, I usually paid around $20 each for those.

And at this price, if they're junk, you could just use it for cooking wine

Just received a massive offer of older VCC in great condition. I bought bottles of 1974 and 1994 which I need for my vertical, and two magnums and several bottles of 1982.

There is more 1982 left and several other vintages. PM me if you want details.

Harvey Nichols is a posh department store a couple hundred yards up the road from Harrods in Knightsbridge. Like Harrods they have a very good wine department but the prices are pretty steep and not competitive.

A lot of the merchants here have ‘sales’ at the end of the year and other times. They pussyfoot around and offer 5% or 10% off. Well Harvey Nicks had a proper sale yesterday with 50% off, and as the word got around there was a mad scramble.

I was a bit late to the party but did manage to get these

PERRET Saint-Joseph Rouge 2019 3 £16.5
GROSSET Springvale Riesling 2019 3 £16
GAJA Costa Russi Barbaresco 2013 2 £237.5
GIACOSA Barolo Riserva Faletto Vigna Le Rocche 2011 2 £275
GIACOSA Barolo Faletto Vigna Le Rocche 2015 2 £130
SABON Renaissance Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2020 1 £18
GEOFFROY Expression Premier Cru Brut Champagne NV 6 £21

Just made a nice purchase in tax free NH, Gerry, they weren’t on the shelves yet but they found them out back for me in the Portsmouth store.

2019 Echo de Lynch Bages x 2 @ $37.39
2019 Giscours x 4 @ $54.39
2019 Jadot NSG x 1 @ $42.49
2018 Siran x 1 @ $32.72*
2019 Montrose x 1 @ $152.57
2019 Figeac x 1 @ $189.97
2020 Felsina Berardenga x 4 @ $23.79

*That 2018 Siran was Wine Enthusiast wine of the year, Mark, do you have any gossip on that?

Hey, BD; you claim to be a Bordeaux Wine Enthusiast, yet you bought ONE bottle of 2019 Montrose, a wine that you love so much that you might name it WOTY in 2023? I hope you have a good explanation else I will have another Fallen Hero to add to my extensive collection.

Lol... I have five more plus this one, so I am back to six now.
If I settle a case this week I'll probably go back and buy the rest.
Right now I have my eye on some 2014 Montrose....

Nice, Jim. Are you frontrunning us on the 2023 WOTY? :)

Did you get another bottle from NH or is the Montrose from the Zachys order?

Yeah I picked up one more Montrose bottle Joel. Man, they cracked open pristine cases of 2019 Figeac and Montrose to sell me one bottle of each.

A tax free $152 for the Montrose on sale, not as good as the $135 I paid at Zachys, but still pretty good.

Didn't the 135 at zachys have sales tax on top? If so, pretty close. Either way, pretty solid

I would add that I only grabbed those 75 Haut Bailly because of their amazing fills, attractive price $82, how much I like the ‘79 H-B, and Mark Golodetz’s favorable note on the wine (which was virtually the only thing written on this particular vintage since parker panned it in the 70’s). Thanks Mark!

10x 2014 La Dame de Montrose
2x 2016 Ch. Cantemerle

Saratoga had a minimum order of 10 bottles of the LDM, or I might have split the order more evenly.
Oh well, I'll get more of the Cantemerle next time around. I think I'll get some more of the 2015 Senejac as well, on my next order.

What are the goodfellow chardonnays running you in the sale?

Yeah, and it won't be available until later this year, Patrick. When the BerserkersDay madness is over I'll try to get some for Texas as I am almost out of Oregon Chardonnay here.

This is embarrassing because hot weather tertre roteboeuf is hardly a fashionable or au courant wine to be drinking, but I keep seeing amazing deals on it and I do occasionally like Port and big Napa wines and it’s better in that style than those, so…this is all to say that I saw some 2018 (!) Tertre Roteboeuf at $85/bottle and just had to grab it. Between that and the 2015 I am set forever on fathomlessly huge 15% alcohol off-dry reds. On another site I once compared TR to “an amarone of Bordeaux” and it has some of that character, but it’s a lot more interesting than 98% of big Napa reds

Ceil was up in Ludlow, Vermont at Okemo for the weekend with girlfriends and was walking around the little town and sent me a few pictures of a little wine and cheese shops wines that they had in a fridge. Not really all that much of interest until I laid my eyes on a Dom Jamet Cote-Rotie for $138. So I asked her to send me a picture of the label as I just wanted to be sure that it was not a btl of the Jean-Luc Jamet for that price and low and behold, it was the right one. Teamwork.

Seems like it could be a big value based on some of the recent notes and well, why not.
