Yes... I think Costco is on the tail end of their 2019 Bordeaux offerings...

Thanks Jim, I based a lot of my purchasing decisions on what I read here on the forum. :D :D

To commemorate Alcatraz’s marathon win at the All England Club, I picked up a case of 2015 LdH Gravonia from Empire Wine for $36.95 + tax and NYS shipping.

Pretty sharp pricing - would also add Vint at $1250 roughly for a six pack. Vint, I think because they are new, as of a few weeks ago was offering free shipping - so still DC taxes as I understand it, but waving the shipping cost. 2014 VCC simply an excellent wine - La Conseillante also very good, but had both side by side a few months ago at a wine lunch and VCC was the clear favorite of our tasting group.

Haha I emailed Ben immediately and was like I’ll take the ‘83 and ‘85 Rauzan Segla and ended up with just the ‘83 @ $139, so nicely done you beat me to it!

Not all from Ben, but the top two were. I'd happily drink it with you, although I'm not shipping them in this heat. Do you pick up from him?
I should have taken the 83 also but I'm glad you got it. I took two notes in London and they were "Patricks Recos" - 83/85 Rausan Segla. First time I've seen them in a while.

I have several wine groups that I organize wine dinners for and Ben sometimes attends when he is around so I usually opt for the set that aside for me option and then pay cash when he hand delivers them to me. But fully agree, pretty much never worth the shipping risk during the summer months.

So I assume you guys have found CellarRaiders a reliable source of old Bordeaux?

He often has stuff I am interested in but I have been gun shy so far.

People swear by Cellaraiders, but I gave up because too often bottle conditions were not described (because VHS is “normal for wines from the 80’s”), the wrong vintage was sent (only happened to me twice, but I never ordered much), prices are no longer that attractive (compared to auction), and because I almost never was fast enough to get the gems. YMMV.

P.S. I met Ben in person twice (and we spoke on the phone other times) and he genuinely seems like a great guy.

A few wines
Leoville Las Cases 1985/1989. I am not a fan of the extracted vintages of Las Cases, but these two alongside the 1996 are well worth buying.

A single bottle each of Drouhin Musigny 2019 and the ever young Magdelaine 1982.

The Las Cases in the previous post came from him, and they were perfect, levels into the neck spinning capsules etc.
