I recently heard firsthand how much wine JC has cellared... he don't need no stinking freeze, the dude needs an ice age!

I might be interested in doing so. Definitely up for at least 3-4 bottles if anyone wants to be a third.

I went ahead and ordered a case from Saratoga, $89/bottle for delivery beginning of November. You’re welcome to 3-6, whatever your pleasure.

Yeah, and then I read your enabling post on another thread and had to go back to buy

6 2009 Sociando-Mallet Jean Gautreaux.

I am done buying and reading BWE for today.

That’s a great haul. I’ve been sorely tempted by the 14 Canon multiple times but I’ve always held back. We need an ITNOS note on one of those once shipping season arrives (it’s gonna be 96F today in denver, at this rate shipping season won’t begin until December).

Inspired by the nice post of Izak on Beaujolais

3 bottles of 2021 Coeur de Vendange Beaujolais from Domaine du Vissoux.

I should buy more Beaujolais in the coming weeks.

Also, 1 bottle of the 2012 Domaine le Vivier Médoc, and
1 bottle Ijalba Rioja white.

I'll get these in November, probably. With a case it makes sense to try one this year or next.

Mine, too, Patrick. JC is an inspiration to us all.

Now I gotta run to the Dollar Sale at the local Twin Liquors.

Every time I see jckba's posts in this thread I think "that's enough to stock a small retail establishment or a decent-sized restaurant." And I feel so much less guilt about my own purchases. Keep it up JC!

I've been buying Tbills and rolling them over for a chunk of our fixed income assets. Literally and arguably financially less liquid than the wine in the cellar.

Yeah, I’ve had money in various short term (<1 year) Tbills for about a year now and for the next year going forward. Some would probably say I’m too young for low risk investments, but this is easy money.

I find it simpler to put funds into a MM account that yields at least 5%, especially since we will probably need a lot of cash at some unknown time in the fall. But the yield I get in MM is a bit less than what I could get in T-bills.

And also having no state taxes lends prudence towards putting money in MM rather than T-bills...

No state income tax in Texas, CV. For me having instant access to the funds is important, and in my Merrill Edge account I can only do that with MM.

At Twin Liquors' Dollar Sale

4 2014 Clinet @67.17
3 2013 Dom Perignon @228.24
1 2009 Cristal @229.81
4 2017 Berthelemot Chassagne Morgeot @59.79

We needed fizzies and whites for drinking in Texas. The Clinet was the only reasonable Bdx choice and everybody keeps telling me that 2014 is a BWE vintage, so... Lucie was with me and convinced me to buy all the Dom. I passed on 2013 Cristal, to her disappointment, and later read from an excellent taster on WB that it is really, really good. Should I go back and buy some? The 2013 is around $280 IIRC. The 2009 Cristal drinks well now but I did not know about the 2013. Lesser but good Champagnes were also discounted, but the prices were not that attractive.

6 x 2019 Ceritas Elliot Pinot Noir

My favourite American producer. The wines seem increasingly to be finding their way over here now.

1 x Pichon Lalande 1985 (from auction).

Missed out on a 1998 Magdelaine which I bid silly money on but someone more determined (and with a bigger wallet than me) snapped it up instead, unfortunately.

US dollars? Well, I elected not to, though it did go for very close to that - $450 NZ I think. Should I have pulled the trigger?

I’ve had Magdelaine about a dozen times, including the 1982 with Stuart last winter, I don’t get the obsession. But hey that’s what makes the world go around.
