I mean, we all agree that that Margaux/southern Medoc area, including La Lagune, has a distinctive deep purple/deep ruby that is unique to the region, no?

Nice Jim...just scored an '06 birth yr. wine of Lagune for my son Cage at $36 bones!

Well done, Robert G. I've had the '06 La Lagune. It is a beauty. Light on its feet but deceptively powerful, will drink very nicely on Cage's 21st, 25th, 30th, etc.

Half way through the bottle,
Seeing nothing that leads me to conclude that Comte Flaneur is wrong in concluding that 2010 is the greatest vintage in the history of Bordeaux....

After those triple negatives...
Yes, Comte is correct....
2010 is the greatest vintage ever!
At least, there's nothing that I've observed halfway through the bottle of 2010 La Lagune that leads me to conclude otherwise....

How does that 2010 La Lagune compared to the 2010 Cantemerle?

Good news for my daughter Jett...born in 2010!! Lucky her!...a couple of 2010 haut batailley have been purchased...I guess the La Lagune is going to have find its way into the line up!
Re: The 2010 La Lagune has been uncorked....
Jim,
Down the road it will be fun to compare 2009 and 2010 to see who the reigning champ of the modern era will truly be. There have been some good ones with 2005 surpassing 2000 IMHO. I know 2003 has been controversial but for my palate I have loved the ones I've been dipping into my cellar recently with du Tertre and Duhart shining right now along with Giscours. I've sampled both 09 and 10 lesser growths and no complaints across the board.
Keep enjoying but I must say my Bordeaux buying days are over. Can't see myself living long enough to buy anything of the current releases going forward...not that there are any compelling reasons with the disapponting vintages since 2011. Thank god for that as my will power might not hold up when under the pressure of a stellar vintage!

Nice notes Jim.
Danny, I'm in the same boat. Swore I woudn't buy 2009 but gave in and bought a bunch. Swore I wouldn't buy 2010 and am holding fast so far, but threads like this make it tough.

Good to read. I bought a couple 2010 La Lagune. Will it match other great vintages of LL?

These super young Bordeauxs provide me a lot of enjoyment.
The 2010 La Lagune is outstanding, everything in place, great ripeness and great structure.
Smooth, sweet, ripe 1996 tannins.
Loved it.
HWSRN has it about right at 94.
At $69ish I will buy more.
Maybe a notch above the Cantemerle, Nic, they're both great.

David,
I said the same thing about 2009 and 2010 but still bought about 10 cases from each. I'm done and holding out going forward. Too much in the cellar and kids are already talking about selling the left overs after I/Danielle check out. Some way I hope to disappoint them by drinking the cellar up and not adding to it. Certainly I'm still here showing interest and could possibly be persuaded in some awkward moment of weakness going forward if the vintage/price was too compelling.

My kids love wine, Danny, but I also expect they'll cash out the residuals...
Re: The 2010 La Lagune has been uncorked....
My kids, on the other hand, are egging me on to buy more wine so that they will have a lot when I adjourn to That Great Tasting Room in the Sky.
