wine for my dinner -- 2006 Gloria or 2012 Faugeres?
wine for my dinner -- 2006 Gloria or 2012 Faugeres?
I am arranging a dinner for about 150 people for my firm and need to choose the wine. For red I have narrowed it down to a choice between a 2006 Gloria or a 2012 Faugeres. The prices on both are nearly identical and the reviews on both are excellent I have never tasted either wine and need to decide very soon which one to order. If anyone here has tasted both these wines and/or otherwise has any thoughts or suggestions to offer they would be most welcome.

I've had 2006 Gloria and think it would be drinking well. I've never had the 2012 Faugeres but based on TNs from 3 palates I know and trust on CT, I would go with the Faugeres.

In suggesting what wine should go with a dinner, it sure helps to know what food is being served...
I know the Gloria, but not the Faugères.
I believe that the vintage profile of 2006 and the extra 6 years on the Gloria would make it a better candidate for current drinking.
All the best,
Alex R.

I've not had those vintages specifically but have had lots of both estates. They are good choices, made in popular styles.
The Faugeres is perhaps more modern/international.
I would tilt toward Gloria because guests will probably recognize it and trust it.
Very nice short list though.

The best advice is to buy a bottle of both and try them side by side before you make a final decision.
