Popped and poured this evening to go with the first burgers on the grill of the season and it was ready to go from the first glass.
A beautifully integrated perfumy floral nose with black fruit, cedar and leather notes that waft from the glass and lead to a silky smooth medium bodied palate showing more black fruit and pepper notes that linger on the drying finish. A charming effort that is really drinking great at present. 93 points
TN: 2001 Giscours
Re: TN: 2001 Giscours
Tonite was our first afternoon in the pool, although I had to run the pool heater.
Grilled up a big slab of tuna, and had a bottle of white Bordeaux with it.
That's very rare for us; I generally don't like white bdx.
More on that later.
Good to hear about Giscours.

Seem a very nice Giscours, that 2001.
The 2009 is great, and I thought the 2014 we had at the chateau ast May, even if still in barrel, was promising.
As 2015 seems positive for aoc Margaux, maybe time to buy some Giscours.

I've got about 9 bottles of that outstanding 2009 Giscours sitting in my cellar, I'm thinking they must be closed down right now.

You may be right, Bobby, it sure was svelte, but I also think it is made for the long haul as well.

It is interesting to hear about the 2001 red wines. I have had relatively few of them over the years.
Sandwiched in that remarkable run of vintages from 1995-2005, it seems to have to have no cheerleaders.
But if it was in the 60's or 70's it would have been a banner year.
