I was never a big fan, thought he was overrated, but I can't deny his impact.
One of his greatest moments was right here in Lewiston, Maine… Just a couple miles from my house.
I wasn't at the fight but my father took me there the day before, when they were setting up the ring, great excitement, I remember it like it was yesterday.
Sports Illustrated voted this Lewiston, Maine, photo the greatest sports photo of the 20th century.

NBC reports his passing.
A complicated and controversial man. I found more to admire than dislike, but he certainly provoked strong feelings, both positive and negative over the course of his life.
