TN: '07 Larose-Trintaudon
I bought about a case worth of these in the northeast in the last year. My average cost all in is under $16.
After this bottle I have 5 left.
Lots of sediment in the bottle. The color is like pomegranate with a hint of bricking.
Overall, well rounded and pleasant, starting to soften a bit now.
The nose is a bit flowery, overlaid with leather and ripe fruit.
The palate opens with sweet cherry, followed by darker fruit and a hint of minerality.
After an hour or so the tannins become more prominent, but not overpowering, ahead of the short to medium length finish.
Not a lot of complexity but a very good effort from an obscure vintage.
Lighter weight than the '09s and '10s I have, but only by a little.
Last night I enjoyed this with cheese and crackers, fresh baked kale chips, and tomato sandwiches.
I gave this bottle 88 points.

I remember having the 96 and (maybe?) the 00. Sherry Lehmann was always big advocates of this estate.
Have not seen it much/ever on the West Coast, and it seems like K&L has never cottoned on to it.

I drank another of these over the last 2 evenings.
Here's my CT note from this bottle:
This is in a really nice place right now.
Translucent dark ruby color.
Light and elegant, but needs time to open up.
I detect a hint of cedar and creosote on the nose.
On the palate, mostly cherry with some raspberry and cassis.
Modest acidity and well resolved tannins.
Very nice, and outstanding for the price!
Perfect with chicken or pork and roasted vegetables.

Even the 2010 L-T is available for around $16-$18. Why do people pay $25-$30 for a nondescript CA cab when wines like this from Bdx are available and accessible?

Compared to even an average CA Cab, its going to taste leaner, less fruity, especially when young.
And in lots of settings, people will prefer a simple fruity wine.

On the other hand, unfortunately, I recently had a split of 2004 Clos La Chance, some kind of Cab from the central coast. Very simple and ultimately tiresome. I don't think its a garbage wine or anything, but its strange how one noted it was, like a soda sweetened only with sugar, with no other flavorants. There must be some market for all this. The producers aren't running charities, and price signals are the best motivators we have for most things. So clearly people want stuff like that.

I just opened another bottle. To me they just keep getting better.
What I like is that each of its elements is balanced with the others.
It isn't that complex or structured. But it has no other outstanding flaws. The oak is barely noticeable and the delicate, mildly tart red fruit is very nice.
This wine works really well with pork tenderloin and baked or roasted chicken.

We're roasting a spatch cocked chicken tonight.
(when we do that the kids love the run around the house yelling spatchcock and getting the dog wound up)
Maybe a Medoc would be good with it

I'm really enjoying the 2011 L-T right now too. It seems that most of the '11 LBs I have are coming around much sooner than their 2010 counterparts.
