TN 1998 Ch. La Louviere, Pessac-Leognan
Undoubtedly the last of three or maybe four I picked up a ways back. To this point I have pretty much consistently liked these better than the 2000 counterpart, excepting the first 2000 I had, which I liked so much it prompted me to pick up the 98s. Now I think I have that right but maybe I bought the 2000s because I liked the first '98 so much. No I think I have it right the first time. And the last couple of 2000s have been pretty nasty. But anyway this bottle really reminded me of Ian's note on the 1996 Ducru. I wouldn't say the 1998 Louviere is top of the heap but it was a perfectly (to my tastes) mature Bordeaux, right from the dark but muted color, that complex, winey bouquet and the nice blend of sweetness, acidity and pliant mouthfeel.

Hey Art, I'll be on the Island in May. We staying at the Terrace in Mauna Lani Resort. You two want to come over for dinner and wine? I know it's a crappy ride home.

I liked the 98 Graves. I don't think I have any left now.
