I just read some of them. I suspect I had an off bottle. It was soft and mushy... but, the notes on both the 1985 and 1992 right now are very good. I'm sure your fine.

We had an 83 last year - not a normal release I think it was sold only to some insiders - and it was still pretty good.

The person who brought it said the wines got a lot better later on, once they figured out their terroir more.

IIRC 83 Dominus was held back for a while. Dominus is my favorite Meritage.

Wait a minute, Blanquito, I thought you weren't buying any more wine this year.
I got off my flight at Logan on Sunday, the last day of the NH 15% off sale, and drove past all the Bordeaux bargains into the great state of Maine without buying a single bottle.
I do regret that I ended up not getting a single bottle of 2015 d'Issan, though. It wasn't sold out when I left for France, it was sold out by the time I got back.

Bought a mag of 2015 Felsina Rancia today. Got a few 2016 Mont Olivet CdP over the weekend. I'm a big fan of the 'ordinaire' CdPs, especially in top vintages.

Jumped in on a case purchase of the 2014 Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge @ $29.99/btl from MacArthurs, good Bourgogne for a song never lasts long ...

I know! My only excuse is I put a bid in on this lot a week ago, so it came before my rest-of-year buying ban. Those are my only 4 bottles purchased in about a month. Be Strong!

There is always a bidding exception to buying bans, but the bid must be under retail.

I scored a bottle of 1963 d’Yquem at auction this week. My birth year.

I also bought a case of Le Difese 2015 from Sassicaia...70% Cab Sav, 30% Sangiovese. It is a cracking wine...the Sangiovese gives this such raciness and lift. Already drinking sublimely. Somewhat ironically we drank this in burgundy (for lunch in an ‘Italian’ restaurant next to ‘Ma Cuisine’ in Beaune) en route back from last weekend’s gathering at Chateau Casanova. I paid the equivalent of $20 a bottle. It is outstanding vfm imho.

I understand that 2015 is strong vintage in the region, but I was left non plussed by a 2012 Difese last year.

I made a trip to Total Wine in West Hartford this afternoon. Lo and behold they had some 2015 Giscours, which I didn't expect. I was hoping to get two more Prieure-Lichine but they had only one, so the Giscours more than made up for the other shortage. Now I have 5 of each. :)
I saw a recent tasting note on the 2013 B-C which made me think it was worth a try at $45.

1x 2013 Château Brane-Cantenac
1x 2015 Château de Chantegrive Cuvée Caroline
2x 2015 Château Giscours
1x 2015 Château Prieuré-Lichine
1x 2012 Château Rauzan-Ségla

I haven't drank either yet, and I've never drank Giscours in any vintage so I'm basing my buys on the opinions of others.
On Cellartracker, 2015 Ch. Giscours is at 93 points average and 94.2 points among people I'm a Fan of. One user I'm a Fan of recently gave a 97 with a thorough note to back it up.
The same user just gave 2015 Prieure-Lichine a 95. The CT average is 92.5, and 93.1 among people I'm a fan of.
At a price of $50, that's an easy Buy for me. The Giscours is costing me $64 a bottle.

In general, I've gone deep on Margaux wines in 2015, all across the price spectrum, up to Rauzan-Segla. Palmer and Ch. Margaux are out of my reach.

LOL -- I think Stefan and I might have bid against each other in the same recent auction! I should start an email list with all my wine acquaintances to check for when that happens and conspire to bid low and split lots!

Speaking of that recent auction, my winnings:

6*1998 Jadot Clos de Coucheraux at $23/bottle all in
6*Various St Emilion at $58/bottle all in --
3*1995 Canon la Gaffeliere
1*2001 Canon La Gaffeliere
1*2000 La Dominique
1*2005 Pierre de Lune

I am a real bottom feeder at auctions so the $58/bottle for older St Emilions is higher than I like to go, but but I know I like some of those wines so I splurged a bit.

Oh, Marc, we should collude to avoid that. But I did not bid on any of the items you won IIRC. I low balled a lot of bids at the beginning and was outbid on all, then went through the entire list and put in reasonable but pretty low bids on a zillion things and won on about half of them. The Sauternes were not bid up, fortunately for me.

That is pretty much my strategy too Stefan. Except my low ball bids are even lower than yours, I tried to snag the Ursules for a $170 bid ($210 w/BP), which would have been an insanely low price. You did get an excellent price for them though!

I will PM you with an eye to the future -- I love the idea of splitting lots.

Good idea if the house will split. Right now I am trying to get them to ship part to Oregon and part to Texas. So far I have not heard if they will, and that does not even involve splitting lots.

Added a few things over the last couple of weeks between auctions and NH's latest promo.

NH:
6-2016 Ridge Geyserville
2-2015 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco (great year for the normal)

Auction:
1-1998 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie
1-1985 Château Cos d'Estournel
2-2011 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Asili
1-1996 Domaine Robert Groffier Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
1-2001 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie Cuvée Lancement
1-1997 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie Cuvée la Belle Hélène
1-2003 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie
4-1991 M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie La Mordorée
1-2003 Rene Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Côte Blonde
1-1990 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots-Du-Milieu
1-1996 Domaine Robert Groffier Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
1-2005 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod / Barthod-Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras

Hard to believe only one bottle of Bordeaux in the bunch.

Correction, just won a 2 bottle lot of 89' Pichon Baron

Saturday I picked up a bottle of 2014 Cantenac Brown, and opened it yesterday to drink with our dinner of sirloin tips braised in a sauteed onion/mushroom wine sauce, served over spinach/ricotta ravioli.
Very good, but I like the '14 Ch. Talbot much more. I'll see if there's any improvement tonight when I drink the 2nd half of the bottle.

A couple weeks ago I bought a bottle of 2015 Sarget de Gruaud Larose, which I finished yesterday. It was quite good, and well worth the $27 tariff.

I bought some Produttori and some more Siran in NH yesterday Gerry based on the information you provided here on BWE, the greatest wine website in the world.
JC, the Gruaud Larose pricing error was only that one case at that one store.

I wish I had the budget to do that but I'm already way overspent on the year and still have some other similarly priced bottles on my WTB list.
My cellar has hardly any Pessac-Leognan wines so I want to pick up just a few of the better '15s - Les Carmes HB, DdC, Haut Batailley.
So I'll settle for 6 of the B-C in my cellar.
