F@ck yes!
Where, if I may ask?
Bobby G and I had the 2015 about two months ago, He swooned over it, I thought it hedonistic and just a wee bit more than what I want in a wine, and actually thought 2014 could be smokin.

It’s very good, but the VCC 2014 is better at half the price.
But Jim, you are an intellectual, you need to check for yourself.

Re: 2014 Ausone @ $402.89... Go or No Go?
You will not regret it Jim.
You will if you don’t bite.
I remember when I was living in the US I picked up some 2004 Ausone at $200 each. Stupidly I only bought two.
I also bought five three packs of 2020 Ausone as a speculative punt. It is insider bet for wotv.
It is difficult to see the price going down when production at 2k cases a year is half that of Petrus, a third that of Cheval Blanc which costs more (in 2020) and a tenth that of Lafite which cost the same here.
Arguably Ausone should trade at least at the same price as Petrus because it can no longer be argued that Petrus is the superior wine.

Man you guys are something....
Here is the email I just sent out to the guy, let's see how he responds!
++++++++
Hi Derek, thanks for your response.
I was wondering if you have #30077, 2014 Chateau Ausone in stock.
If so, I was wondering if you would be willing to sell me the following mixed case at 15% off:
#30077 / 2014 Ausone / 1 bottle x $473.99 x .85 = $402.89
#94126 / 2016 Lynch Bages / 5 bottles x $170.99 x .85 = $726.71
#92566 / 2016 La Conseillante / 3 bottles x $268.49 x .85 = $684.65
#30011 / 2014 Chateau Palmer / 3 bottles x $214.49 x .85 = $546.95
Total: 2,361.20
If you can't do it I understand, I'll wait until there's a Bordeaux sale.
If my math is correct I can swing by today or tomorrow.
If you could give me the Lynch wood case as well I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jim

Yeah it comes to $182 for the Palmer, you don’t see Palmer going at that price any more.

The ‘14 Palmer looks to have disappeared from the NH liquor system, so did you score or ... ?

Interesting little case study in negotiating prices. Have you guys ever tried to leverage a bulk buy for the forum with a big discount?

Re: 2014 Ausone @ $402.89... Go or No Go?
No, Mike, NH puts their wines from different regions on sale at 15% discount a couple times a year. Sometimes I approach them with these major purchases during months that they are not on sale. Sometimes they sell them to me, sometimes they don’t. I would love to buy wines for other BWEers — others have done it for me — but in my experience it is usually more of a pain than worth it. MichaelP is holding wines for me out in California, I’m holding wines for Nicola here in Maine. Gerry has been holding six bottles of 2012 du Tertre for me in nearby Massachusetts for like six years now. I don’t have the time or energy to figure out how to ship wines. When I go to BWE conventions I usually try to pack as light as possible. I’ve got four murder cases and 77 other felony cases pending, I just don’t have the time to do it. Maybe in my retirement, whenever that will be! I can certainly sell a bottle here or there, but I just don’t have the energy to do it in any organized way.

Re: 2014 Ausone @ $402.89... Go or No Go?
A few years back NH had like 20 cases of 2005 Lafite that were like $575 per bottle, I was going to offer to buy them all at 15% off, or about $488 per bottle, or some such deal. I may be a little off on my numbers. I called Whuzzup, who never otherwise takes my calls. He did in this case, told me to buy them up. I waited a day, and every single bottle was gone by the next day.

I feel guilty because guys like JC and others have alerted me to deals over the years and I wish I were in a better position to reciprocate, but my life is just so insanely busy. I’ll try to get some Palmer down the east coast before the year is over.
Re: 2014 Ausone @ $402.89... Go or No Go?
I was thinking trying to approach a provider as a group but with individual but simultaneous orders. That way shipping and payment doesn't get convoluted but the provider has some incentive to give a deal. Just a thought, I've led a supply chain organization in the past .

Interesting concept, Mike. NH doesn't ship, but I'm assuming you are conceptualizing the provider arranging that.
As Gerry has commented here before, NH's deals aren't as great as they used to be, we've gotten some astounding deals over the years.
Still, there are often some good deals. I suspect that 2019 is going to be a vintage to watch in NH.

Yes was thinking it would have to be a retailer that ships to as many states/countries as possible but isn't a huge outfit that would scoff at anything unless massive.

I'm not sure how any of that would be accomplished legally, what with New England wholesaler liquor laws that have been basically stuck in time since the Prohibition. We are literally about 100 years behind the times up here in New England when it comes to liquor laws.
