I loved that wine, Ian, I drank about a dozen bottles on release.
An outstanding value.

The local Total Wine had a 20% off sale, making most these reasonable. Not great buys, but good enough to reel me in.

Well hello David, look at you. Those are all some very nice scores indeed. To me, you can never get enough Montrose, Rauzan, and Lilian these days. And I can’t speak for the 2015 Raffault, but the 2014 is absolutely brilliant. Looove it.

Cheers, Jim. I've never tried Senejac before, so looking forward to it. Might pop it open tonight.

Spot on, Jim - excellent value this.
Senejac 16: Cassis and mint aromas. Medium+ bodied with decent, chewy tannins on the finish. Quite traditional in style. Savory. Must buy more.

Kind of slim pickings in NH, it was a slow year in wine purchases, I think I’m finally slowing down. My last purchase of the year, I’ll be looking at 2019 prearrivals next:

7 x 2016 Sociando Mallet
6 x 2018 La Dame de Montrose
2 x 2017 Lilian Ladouys
2 x 2018 Langoa Barton
1 x 2018 Quinault l’Enclos
2 x 2016 Brunello Argiano

I paid $41.64 tax free with 15% discount, Joel, I don't know if that is any great deal relative to other retailers but I think it is a good QPR for the quality involved.
I now have 26 bottles of the 2016 Sociando in my cellar.
I have drunk it three times now, including a couple weeks ago, and have found it stunning each time.

Locally the shelves are full of 2017's that will languish on the shelves for the next to years given the pricing. Not a bad way to end the year. Not much for 2018's down my way, at least yet. Did you get the discount on the Argiano?

No, Gerry, I realize the Argiano was a little pricey but I figured I was down there, no taxes, no shipping, it was in stock, if I ended up buying it from out of state someplace it would end up costing about the same after adding in taxes and shipping. If it is still around when they have an Italian wine sale or when they have their general sale in the winter, I'll buy more.

It's a solid deal, about the same as I can get locally here when there are coupons. about $48 without coupons.

I did just grab 4x2014 Sociando for 35 a piece from benchmark sale. I know Orlando Bobby approves, now just have to get some 2014 Lanessan!

That wine is such a classic beauty. Both the 2014 and 2016 Sociandos are great, in different ways.

My man Jayon Brown in Foxboro today, middle linebacker for the Tennessee Titans.
We met him in Paris in February 2020, just before the pandemic shut everything down.
We were sitting next to him and his buddies at a restaurant, Le Giraffe or some such name, overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
We ended up partying with them late into the night.
I was giving them some lessons on Bordeaux wines, we ended up uncorking a 2014 Sociando Mallet.
He's questionable with a quad, not sure whether he's in the lineup today or not.
I've kept in touch with him in the past year and a half, a great kid.
A UCLA grad, they're trying to get me to represent the father of his friend, a center for the Packers, who was wrongfully accused of murder 20 years ago in LA.
Looks like he's out there on the field.

Just got word from Saratoga that they are transferring my two bottles of 2014 VCC from the warehouse to the store for shipment, along with some 2016 Brunellos. Also got my mixed case of St. Innocent today, and MacArthur's has just shipped my three bottles of 2019 Niellon Chassange Montrachet Clos St. Jean, mmmm....

Jim, if you had purchased 12, it would have been free shipping! But glad you are in the hunt to check this out. It's out of my price comfort zone, so I will need to learn from others' experiences.

Nice purchase stefan. I was tempted, but my Oregon section of the cellar is maxed out.
On an Oregon note, Walter Scott has suspended their wine club starting in 2022 and lasting until March of 2023. No wine to sell because of fire taint.

Smoked grapes are a serious problem for many Oregon wineries. Production overall in 2020 is down almost 30% from 2019.

I will say, if you haven't had it. For a cheap wine, I love their Petite Secondes. Under $20 a bottle and its a steal

Um. 12 bottles of Laurene, Joel. Dundee Hills is good for drinking while waiting for the Laurene to mature. I dunno if Louise ever matures. Roserock is OK but I do not buy it regularly. I got it in my wine club shipment.

Sorry, my brain is clearly playing tricks on me. I'll be curious to hear your reports back. Do they sell much back vintage at the winery? I haven't been in a while.

The roserock is apparently made at an entirely different location, south of there somewhere. That explains why it's not as good IMO

Good auction day! That would be an epic time to open it. Ian would definitely have to make it over. I've got some 98 VCC for it. And 98 L'evangile if I can keep my mits off it for that long.

Also got a 2005 Gruaud Larose for 112. Been buying a lot of BWE recommendations lately and they have been great. Gotta keep the train rolling.

Off Posner’s Cyber Monday sale, I grabbed:
Ulysse Collin Quintet Case (1 of each of the Les Maillons BdN, Les Perrieres BdB, Les Enfers BdB, Les Maillons Rose de Saignee and Les Roises BdB) @ $749.25 I balked at this last year at the same price but as some of these wines have now become highly sought after, the math now makes sense
6*2015 Guiseppe Mascarello Villero Barolo @ $93.75
3*2016 Y.Clerget Pommard Les Rugiens 1er @ $97.50
1*2018 Y.Clerget Volnay Carelle sous La Chappelle 1er @ $74.99
1*Agrapart Les Terroirs BdB @ $62.24
1*2017 Emidio Pepe Trebbiano d’Abruzzo @ $67.50
