While not quite as good as the fantastic 2006 D'Issan, this is nevertheless an outstanding Margaux. Ripe and gentle, with a complex bouquet of dark fruits, earthy aromas, flowers and spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a fine minerality, and the long finish is also well balanced. 13% alcohol.
In terms of quality and style the 2006 Ferrière is on a par with the 2001, 2003 and 2004 I had in recent months.

Re: TN: 2006 Ferrière
Well, you certainly seem to have done your homework on Ch. Ferrière, Rudi!
This has become a wine for people who enjoy good wine rather than label drinkers.
The estate has had a checkered history. The "château" as such is what was, until recently Château La Gurgue.
I think the latter is made in a untilitarian cellar the other side of Margaux now.
Best regards,
Alex R.

I have to say, a very enjoyable homework, Alex.
It is indeed amazing how consistently excellent their wines are.
