LLC seems a bit more modest than one would think.

Tim,
I believe those engravings actually come from another book, "Grands Vins de Bordeaux" by M.P. Biarnez.
This was published in 1849 and is a truly wonderful book, including a trip through the Médoc in verse.
A complete facsimile version can be found here: https://books.google.fr/books?id=EUOU7R ... ez&f=false
I was lucky to find a first edition at a 2nd hand shop a couple of years ago. I am very proud of it .
All the best,
Alex .R

Re: Illustrations of Bordeaux Chateaux
Generally speaking, the illustrations we see on the labels have the chateau and nearby surroundings. What's interesting in these book illustrations of the chateaux is that all the illustrations have people in them...
Nice and interesting...Thanks for sharing...

Very nice indeed.
Re: Illustrations of Bordeaux Chateaux
Nice historical prints Tim. The only issue that I see is there are still a few left out of the 15 posted that BWE has not officially visited. Looks like another trip is in order!!

From what I understand, when the Leoville Pangaea was divided the agreement was that Las Cases got the best vineyards, Barton the best house and Poyferre the Parker scores.AKR wrote:LLC seems a bit more modest than one would think.

Very cool, thanks for posting Tim.
Re: Illustrations of Bordeaux Chateaux
I was looking at a couple of our 2015 trip pictures and I find it quite interesting how some things have changed and others have remained the same. Particularly Pichon Baron and Margaux.
