Good going, guys! By chance I am sipping right now on 2022 Goodfellow Temperance Hill Berserker Cuvee Chardonnay and tested the 2016 La Lagune Thursday night.

Gosh, your descriptions do not resemble any Col D'Orcia Brunello Di Montalchino I have drunk. OTOH, I have only drunk them with dinners that called out for a Brunello.

How does modern Beychevelle compare to the second growth St Juliens? The market values it more that Barton, Poyferre, and Gruaud in the 2019 vintage.

Re: Bordeaux 1986 dinner in London

It is particularly interesting that you two differ on the wines. The biggest surprise for me is that the 1986 Mouton did not rate higher. It has been 15-20 years since I last I drank this wine. At that time, the 1982 Mouton was showing better, but I thought that the 1986 might surpass the 1982 in 15...

Good, BWE QPR wines you drank! Jim, we drank 1985 Pichon Lalande last night and 1983 Pichon Lalande tonight. Both are still going strong. The '85 has a heavenly bouquet, while the '83 is perfectly balanced. Last night we also drank the powerful 2005 Pichon Baron. While the PB would win in a competit...

It looks like the 1996 left bank wines have finally mostly reached their "plateau of maturity". Last night we drank 1996 La Lagune and Cos d'Estournel. I would not say that the Cos has peaked, but it is now mature and very pleasant to drink as the tannins are resolved. The '96 La Lagune ha...

i now use a Durand on all wines that are 15+ years old. Sure, it is unnecessary for most wines that are 15-20 years old, but the pain of dealing with a broken cork is less than the pain of using the Durand instead of a simpler devise 20 times.

I love tasting such older wines. Our latest success was a beautiful example of the 1970 Nameless wine, which I had not drunk in the last thirty years but much enjoyed when it was a young adult. The fruit was much fresher than that of the 1970 Latour you describe, and no trace of brett.

Didn't Moet start the Plenitude Program around 2014? Were the P3s from 1971 and 1972 bottled only after that time, or were the bottles resting in the cellars and labelled only after the

Tonight we'll take stefanJr and family out to Bar Purlieu, our favorite restaurant in Eugene, to celebrate Lucie's 82nd birthday. Nice contrast in your mini-vertical, Jon. I have drunk almost all of the 95s I purchased on release. I do have a few in Oregon that I bought at auctions. I think that overall 1995 is a better vintage than 1996, because while 1996 is better on the left bank, the 1995 right bank wines are far superior...
