Happy Thanksgiving BWEers.

Post by JimHow »

I hope all BWEers have a happy holiday. I'll be with the family tomorrow but it's going to be a quiet holiday for me as I am starting a three week murder trial on Tuesday involving the brutal murder of a three year old girl on Christmas morning 2022, and we are attempting to blame it on her mother. Sigh. About as tough a case as I've had in my career. Sipping on a lovely 2019 Chasse Spleen tonight, though, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Definitely, BD. Last night we had a mag of SI 2016 Freedom Hill, a 2014 Antiquum farms, and a 2016 Cristom Eileen, plus some other non PN wines with Lucie's traditional pre-Thanksgiving minestrone and my world class guacomole. This morning stefanJr and family will come for a breakfast of Coho infused scrambled eggs with 1999 Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois Billecart and 2012 Louis Roederer Rose. Turky and trimmings and stefanJr's older Oregon PN will be at his house this afternoon.

Haven't been around in awhile, but wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Was supposed to be visiting the family in the US but had to cancel due to Covid. So ended up doing a quiet Thanksgiving with a Guinea Hen in Paris. But wanted to wish everyone glad tidings.

Bummer, but happy holidays nonetheless Mr McCracken. It was good to see you in Paris a couple weeks ago.

Thank you Jim!
Now on to Thanksgiving wines.
We had a dinner with some band mate's and everyone got a 3lb lobster. So I had an impromptu lesson on wines.
Cali Chards lighty oaked and over oaked.
Chablis with no oak.
Mersault with a perfect balance.
A Riesling.
And the crowd pleaser Vouvray.
I pulled a Nixon and drank up most of the Mersault.

We had a wonderful feast with plenty of laughs and friendship.

Happy T-day to all.

Went to relative's house with people who are mostly cocktail drinkers.

I bring the wine. Nobody touched the red - 2016 Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot, which has calmed down finally from its fiery youth and is actually quite drinkable. But the white was a modest hit, 2021 Blanc de Lynch Bages. Yea, Bordeaux. Really delicious pretty pineapple fruit and no grass.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Kathy, Stuart. You know what was really nice at dinner yesterday was the simple 2005 J.M. Boillot Volnay, it was very lovely, still youthful but nice evolution, man those 2005 Burgundies.... Best vintage ever from any region? This had beautiful black cherries, elegance, a great match with the turkey, especially the dark meat. Mmmmm.

We've missed you and Susan, Mr. Dayton, I think I'm going to have to round up the Canadiens and come visit you in the Deep South in 2025, I'm adding that to my "To-Do" list for 2025. We toasted to you when Tom, Gail, and I were at Pavie Macquin last year and sipped a couple vintages with Nicolas Thienpont himself, and we met his son this past January in Montreal. I'm happy to see the band is still playing!

Hope all BWEs here in the US are enjoying a nice long holiday weekend.

We spent a relaxing afternoon with our daughter and her boyfriend and are savoring a break from construction noise and dust.
