Really enjoyed these for Christmas festivities. No detailed notes but was nice to compare against some bigger California wines that some of the crowd enjoys. I am hunting a case of 2016 SHL now.
SHL: Decanted for several hours then returned to bottle for about 5 more hours. Splendid. Dark, deep and brooding.
2019 Canon felt elegant, lighter and more red fruited. Glad to have more in the cellar.
2016 SHL and 2019 Canon

Sounds like a couple of winners Mike.

Re: 2016 SHL and 2019 Canon
Thanks for the note!
I have a case of both in my cellar but I wasn't shure about decanting time and drinking window, so didn't open any of them since yet. Would you recommend a decant time for the Canon, too?

Canon I think was ready to go at pop. Might have gotten better with time but didn't last long enough to find out with six of us sharing it.Chrysostomus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 2:19 pm Thanks for the note!
