Nor did I. I don't have much 2005 Bdx. I think I have Pichon Lalande, Pontet Canet, and maybe Conseillante in Texas, from where we will travel. I do have a lot of 2005 Burgundy though..

None here. I'm light on 2005 but can come up with some options.

As always we can bring whatever we want, plus I have plenty in my cellar so don't fret, including white Burgundy, Champagne, and Sauternes with the lobstah!

Any local Walmart's you can use overnight? I've heard they're very accomodating to RV's. 😁

My 2005 cache is also very light, but can bring some 2000s.

Tonight we will drink 2005 Conseillante and Pontet Canet to determine if either is worthy of attending the Maine Event in July.

Too late for us to join in the 05 theme as we've already shipped a few bottles (oldish of course) to BD. Hopefully they are all good and interesting. But we’ve enjoyed 05s generally so no objection to that. Michael-P

Mmmm as David and Peggy will tell you, we offer the following cuts at Jim How Back Deck Steakhouse, so tasty with fine Bordeaux: Tenderloin, Strip Sirloin, Ribeye, Porterhouse, T-Bone.

Now when Tom and Gail come over they want the “Jim How Experience,” in which your cut is lightly seasoned with salt and crushed pepper and grilled to your preference, topping off the meal with La Pie de La Whoopie, but of course we will cook it to your preference and will have other dessert options available, including, perhaps, Winona’s favorite, the Jim How Peaches and Whipped Cream Delight, served with a glass of Sauternes….
Mmmmmm.

Yes, Nic; 2005 is definitely a winner; every bit as good as Ian says. This was the second bottle from a case I purchased near release time. I drank the first bottle 5 years ago. The wine clearly required blanquitoing, so I left the case in my warm storage (62-65F) instead of moving it to my 55F wine closet. Good decision, as now the wine, while still young, is roaring.

The 2005 Pontet Canet is also excellent and, in fact, was preferred by my friend DD, who is ITB.

Perhaps we should drink 2005 Burgundies one night. Since it was the BWE wine of the year in 200?, probably many of us have a reasonable supply. Some are drinking well now.

Tonight we drank 2005 Domaine Lous Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques. Having been in my warmer storage since shortly after release, it is really singing now. I checked that the market appreciates it much more now than when it was released--the lowest USA retail price on WineSearcherPro is $348 (sic)! I am pretty sure that my cost was less than $50. Consequently, I don't suggest running out to buy 2005 Burgundy in 2025.

2005 Red burgs are a great idea. The right ones are really singing now, although some are very closed. I may even have a decent 2005 white that I can open with the lobstah.

Let's not forget about 1985 (and 1995) for Saturday. How about 1985 vs 1995 vs 2005 for a theme?

Jim thought my 1985 Lynch Bages was the 1989 Lynch Bages when I blinded him in Florida. There are some other seriously great 1985s that should make an appearance if anyone has any left.

I'm quite curious to try the 2005 Conseillante and also the 2005 Pichon Baron again (this was one of my favorite wines at the 2020 convention, which was my first convention and where I met most of you for the first time)

My son was born in 2005 so I have quite a bit. Will add a 99 Yquem, some fois gras, a 93 Mouton, and a 2009 magnum of Baune 1ere Cru. 2009 is the bourgogne year for me. Maybe too late, but I need to get rid of this magnum that has been through 3 moves, including the original from France -> US. It was beautiful in its prime though.

I, too, am from Lewiston, ME so I feel a need to represent our beautiful State!

I'm really glad you can make it, Steve, this is a group of some of the most amazing people I've ever met in my life, incredibly intelligent, interesting, generous.... we welcome you to Chateau Howaniec, my fellow Lewistonian! I haven't had the controversial-labeled '93 Mouton in quite a few years. The '99 d'Yquem is an elegant beauty.... Can't wait!

Oh, I was going to bring the Pichon Baron. I can bring the 2005 Figeac, Leoville Barton, and Gruad Larose though.

Also, Stefan, if you want to save your Pichon Baron and just supply a Conseillante I can bring the PB.

I can also bring a 1995 Grand Puy Lacoste and La Fleur Petrus.

OK, I'm going to try to force Nicklass to quit because it's too much for him...just realized I could bring a bottle of 2005 VCC if desired.

From Burgundy I have a 2005 Jadot Clos St Denis (possibly not ready), a magnum of 2005 Pousse d'Or Corton Roi (seems like a good crowd for a magnum?) and a nice 2005 Thibault Liger Belairs Chambolle Musigny Gruenchers premier cru that is drinking well.

Realize I'm verging on a case here which is excessive at least volume-wise so please feel free to chime in on which you'd like to try!

It is going to be a great two evenings in the Great State of Maine but, as I've said, I have plenty of fine wines in my cellar, folks are welcome to bring wine but it is not a requirement, I have plenty to select from!

Put me down for a 2005 Pavie from the dark side and either a Champagne or Sauternes.

As I said in the other (22 Leoville Barton) thread I am shipping Jim the 2005 Figeac and Grand Puy Lacoste, along with the 1995 Grand Puy Lacoste and some 2005 Burgundy. Seeing that Gerry is bringing the 2005 La Fleur Petrus I will also add a 1995 La Fleur Petrus to that for more horizontal/vertical action.

So far for Bordeaux anniversary years we have:

2005 Conseillante, Pichon Baron (Stefan), Figeac, GPL (me), Smith Haut Lafite, La Fleur Petrus (Gerry), Pavie (David)
1995 GPL, La Fleur Petrus (me)...anyone have more 95s?

The 2005 Pichon I have is Lalande. I don't think that I have Baron. I do have one 1995 Baron (subject to physical inventoring). I probably have single bottles of some other 1995 Bdx, but my electronic inventory is suspect.

So I'll bring 2005 Pichon Lalande and 2005 Conseillante for sure, and worry later about what else.

I'm really excited about this Maine '25 event, I think it will be historic, one of the great wine events in the world in 2025. Hopefully the weather will cooperate but if not we will be fine, I'll have plans in place. Adding my old college buddy David and his wife Jenny to the list, some of you met them at the DC convention last fall, they really enjoyed themselves.

Point well taken and thank you Jim!

But I still think it would be really fun to have at least some stuff for 1995/2005 horizontals so I am still sending a bunch of 1995/2005s as described above and kind of hope a few other bottles from those years might show up too!
