Another Rias Baixas and Chianti

Post by Nicklasss »

La Trucha 2024 Rias Baixas. I had a glass as an aperitif, to compare it with yesterday's Zarate. Very pale, still light lemon on the nose, white berries, honeydew melon, and a touch of sweetness. Medium-bodied on the palate, with lime zest, starfruit, and a saline, fresh quality. Remains light-bodied on the palate. A little less acidic than the Zarate, but a similar recipe. Rated 88-89.

The Piano del Sarti Chianti Classico Riserva 2015 from Tenuta la Novella is ready to drink. Light red color with even paler rims. A very attractive nose of blood orange, violets, red cherries, walnut shells, and bergamot tea. Not powerful, but truly interesting. Medium-bodied but complex on the palate. Concentrated red berry flavors, faded violets, and cherry wood, with freshness and length. Fine tannins, light cherries with cinnamon on the finish. Very good, and I believe it's currently at its peak. Rated 91-92. Very drinkable.

Happy Good Friday.

Nic, you probably opened that Chianti at a very good time. When I am able to keep my hands off of them for more than five years, they really start to evolve into more interesting wines.
