A beautiful day, ending in… delicious flavors.
Rack of lamb, cooked indirectly on the BBQ. Paired with a 2022 La Bastide Blanche. Bandol, a wine that's still relatively unknown? This one has a lovely medium red color, with an initial nose of meat and leather, along with blackberries. Over two hours, it opened up to reveal cherries, light spices including black pepper, and Provençal herbs like savory. The palate is youthful, a touch alcoholic, with flavors of cherries, leather, and a hint of blackcurrant, of medium intensity. Very good, but five years of aging will help. Rated 88-89.
However, it paired well with the lamb in a simple yet flavorful recipe.
