2016 Labegorce

Post by CJD »

Tempted to take a punt on a few cases of this.

Loved 89,00 & a few older vintages admittedly when it was L. Zede.

Anyone tasted?

I would go for it. Did not had it, but general consensus on the web seems very very positive.

I think you can't go wrong in 2016 with a Left Bank wine.

I have also encountered this phenomenon several times where my reply fails to post where it seems as if my login has timed out but, I have also been able to retrieve some of these failed posts by hitting back in the browser thus bringing me back to my unposted response, copying and pasting it followed by re-logging back in and reposting.

What did you think of the 2016 Labegorce CJD?
I've loved the 2016 Tour St. Christophe, La Dame de Montrose, Prieure Lichine, Fonroque, and Barde Haut.
it does indeed appear to be a profound vintage. The wines will last a long time.
Really rich color in all of them.

It’s out for delivery this week Jim along with a batch of 2014 Labégorce that I will try alongside at the weekend. Based on a 2015 Giscours consumed recently I suspect the 15s & 16s will need a good 10 years to hit their stride. The giscours seemed closed and not all that light on its feet perhaps the 14%alc dragging it a bit. I will need to retaste as this has been touted in the 95 range which I was struggling to find. More a 92.

Did not bought Bordeaux for a few weeks/months.

Just bought a few bottles of the 2016 Château Labégorce. Looking forward to open one in the coming weeks!

Nic, if you open one, let us know your impressions. I have a case of this wine and am wondering when to start drinking it.

I too have an unopened case which I bought because I liked it so much upon release.
I tried a lone bottle a year or so ago and I thought it was outstanding.

I'm with you Jim - bought a case on release along with a few extra bottles to prevent the prybar from being used to early. Fantastic QBR, probably should have bought another case or two!

As I've said before, I'd like to do a blind tasting of the 2015-2016 Margaux vintages where, along with the Palmers, Chateau Margaux, Giscours, and Rausan Seglas, we throw in the likes of Labegorce, Cantemerle, La Lagune, Siran, etc. I think it would be fun.

oh man, that'd be a very interesting blind tasting. I think you'd see at least a few of the smaller estates come out near the top.
