Lot of wines last weekend.

Post by Nicklasss »

I don't know why, i was having 2 kid birthdays this weekend, including my Julien who turned 9 years old, and we opened way too much wines for both dinners. Mainly inexpensive Bordeaux the first night, and some mixed wines the second.

2017 Petit Balthazard: Vin de Pays d'Oc Merlot at 11 % alcohol. Very good with it right amouth of fruit, earth, even light garrigues stuff. A super red apperitive. Tn : 87-88.

2015 Chateau Tournefeuille: Lalande-de-Pomerol. Ambitious wine that is... meeting it ambition. Concentrated, complex nose of fruit, clay, spices, oak, more spices with strong flavors of blackberries. Great texture, will age well too. We drank it way too quickly. Tn: 90.

2015 Chateau d'Archambault: Graves. Lot of perfumes here, cherries and blackcurrants on the back, lot of smoky mineral and spices on the front. Good concentration in that Graves (the vintage effect?), with flavors of cherries, minerals, smoke. Even some kind of bacon (normally in Syrah). Very good. Tn: 88.

2015 Chateau d'Agassac: Caernet style, with blackcurrants, raisin, leaves, and some blackfruit. Thick and slightly austere in mouth, good concentration, good tanins, light coal flavors, blackcurrants and earthy minerals. Satisfying. Tn: 89-90.

Second night:

2017 White Chinon Couly-Dutheuil : very rare but very good. Creamy for Chenin, flowery, melon, confit green lemon, almonds, good concentration. Tn: 89-90.

2015 Vernay La Blonde du Seigneur Côte Rôtie: very nice Northern Rhône. Lots of violet flowers, sweet rasberries, smoke, meet, lighr apricot (viognier?) and more red fruits. Very good in mouth, flowery, powerful fruit, some very good tannins, fresh. Only 12.5 % alcohol. Light licorice and smoke on the long final. Still young but promising. Tn: 91-92.

2015 Taupenot-Merme Gevrey Chambertin: very pinot, with a light masculine earthy gamy character. Don't get me wrong, good fruits like the concentrated red berries, soft sweet spices. Good core fruit in mouth, elegance, aerial but long at the same time. Excellent, way better than the 2012 I had not so long ago. Tn: 91.

Nice weekend, i was exhausted today at the job!

Sounds fun to be honest. Personally I love Chateau d'Agassac from your list.
