OMG this is a catastrophe.
If this were a girl fight cage match, Ivanka knocks her out with a reverse leg kick, and then punches her like 30 times before the referee can stop the carnage.

this speech is AWFUL!
I mean, she's given some good speeches before, like when she torched Trump a couple weeks ago.
This is wonkish!

Re: President Trump
This convention will give the Dems a bit of a bounce, they'll go into august with a lead.
But this will be a dogfight come Labor Day, and we'll be sweating out all the same old swing states, FL, OH, VA, MI, etc.

Re: President Trump
Since 1972, the every candidate leading in the polls about 2 weeks after both conventions were finished has gone on to win the popular vote in November (Gore had a small lead in 2000 after the conventions and of course he won the popular vote no matter the rest). We'll see what there is to see in mid-August.
Re: President Trump
Conventions are earlier this year, so there may be a different dynamic.
Re: President Trump
He says both at the outset and in closing that the reason his breach was worse was that his doc was classified and hers weren't. He leaked one classified doc.Racer Chris wrote:From the first paragraph of the article:JScott wrote:Interesting article, Racer, but inaccurate. It is based on the premise that none of the emails on Hillary's server were classified, which is simply not true.
"In February 1987, at the height of the Cold War, a top official at State caused a leak of extremely sensitive material, classified above top secret. It was distributed far and wide—to nearly every country in the world. And for that serious information breach—much worse than anything Clinton is accused of—he received nothing more than a letter warning him to be more circumspect in the future."
I don't see a premise that no emails were classified, only that the breach in 1987 was far worse, yet resulted in nothing more than advice to not do that again.
FBI director Comey was quite clear on the details of how much and what level of classified information was on Hillary's server.
My opinion of Mr. Trump suggesting that Russian hackers should actively interfere in US presidential politics, is that such a statement rises to the level of treason.
He can't pass it off as sarcasm either. At that level one is not at liberty to make jokes about our national security.
Re: President Trump
CV, it's not legal for a State Dept employee to use a private server. She actually asked several times and was told explicitly it was not permitted. It's also required upon separation to turn over any and all official documents contained therein. She did not turn over anything when she left and when ordered to do so deleted 30K emails she said were "private." Why she would be conducted private business on an official email address is one question, and why she should be permitted to determine what to turn over is another. You should listen to Comey's statement again. Although he decided not to indict her, he lists her transgressions which are many and significant.Chateau Vin wrote:As an IT engineer, I worked for a networking company in testing the security of the gear they produced. Let's examine the facts.
First, is it legal to use a private server as a govt employee to do govt business?
Correct me if I am wrong. It doesn't seem against the law. It seems as long as you seek permission and check with security experts in the govt, you can have it setup. There was precedent in Bush admin as well. Now, did Hillary do it on her own or after going through established protocols at that time?
If it was done not following the protocol, then she should be liable for that.
Second, what type of security and what cryptography standards is that server using? Till wiki leaks, most of govt cryptography levels are crap with the exception of maybe NSA et al. For gods sake, the private sector banks are not being hacked left and right, otherwise all the bank deposits would have been left with zero balances. Nobody is talking about the standards that private server is using. I don't know why nobody is asking if that server is using standards at par, below or above what SOS uses.
I personally would not advise using a private server, but I would also look into the actual facts how it has been done and how it's being carried out assuming that it is legally allowed.
Re: President Trump
Agree with Jim (again! - we need something to argue about), historic for sure, but otherwise not exceptional. This just isn't her strong suit. She's smart and can connect dots, knows policy and procedure (which is why I'm not giving her a pass on the email thing), and has the skills for navigating legislation. She is not an orator (and neither is Chelsea). Trump is much better spontaneously (there's a reason Hillary hasn't done a presser in a half year), but his Achilles heel is going two sentences too far, beyond decorum and decency. If he can reel that in, she's got a problem in the debates. If I were her team I'd try to find a way to goad him into another Megan Kelly moment.
Agree with Jacques regarding the war images. GOP does that to the hilt as well, so fair game. I'm weary generally of the human props that have become the norm, but both sides do it. Doesn't move me any more.
On the whole, not a great convention, but mostly avoided what could've been a spectacular mess. Should see a bump and catch up in the polls.
Guessing Assange isn't endorsing Hillary. Man does he have it in for her. Hard to imagine him being a Trump guy.

Re: President Trump
Check the last line in the article...The email server domain name is like announcing to the world 'I am here. Come and get me'. I don't know whether to laugh at their ignorance or cry that such people are running the govt. What a comical scene...How come these dorks have such a poor judgement even picking domain name for private email server stuff...
