2015 Cantemerle
2015 Cantemerle
Another excellent bottle of this. Dark red, nose opens in 30-45 minutes with nice ripe cherry and cassis, moist earth and tobacco. Medium body, really well balanced. Beginning complexity. Medium finish.
Nothing sticks out but neither is it too slick or glossy. 13% alcohol for those who care. Very classic considering 2015 is often thought of as pushing the boundaries of ideal ripeness and freshness. Not this one, though I haven’t tried it side by side with the 2014 or 2016. On its own, it’s in the zone. Excellent. Will improve but this is a case that will likely see the How treatment.

Well done, Mr. Glasser. Cantemerle rarely seems to disappoint.

What a nice music to my ears.
Cantemerle did weĺl in that 2015 vintage.

Re: 2015 Cantemerle
I have my Cellartracker drinking window set at 2022-2035, and a full case still in the cellar. At this moment my drinkability index score is (5.25). Doesn't seem like I'll get anywhere close to 2035.

Re: 2015 Cantemerle
Cantemerle is one of the fine left bank Bordeaux that often drinks well at age 8. Nevertheless, I am surprised the the 2015 is so good now (not that I have a lot of experience tasting 2015s).

This is a decent early drinker.
Chris, CT tells me I have 4.85 bottles of the 11 left that are ready to drink. I guess based on the hive estimate of the drinking window.
Arv, that’s a nice book review.

One of my faves… the 2010 and 2015 are two of the best vintages in the modern era…one of the rare instances where I prefer 2015 to 2016! (At least, for now)

Re: 2015 Cantemerle
I am a big fan of the 2010 Cantemerle. I have a case. In storage. Based on previous encounters it is a classical Southern Medoc with a lot of substance. I shared a bottle last week with a former colleague at the Oxford & Cambridge club on Pall Mall (I thought I would slip that in, not that the location of the wine’s consumption is in the slightest bit relevant) and it is still a work in progress, which is a polite way of saying it underwhelmed on the night. But I still have confidence that this will turn out to be one of the best ever Cantemerles.
In the meantime drink through your 1996s, in case you have drunk all your 1989s…
Or the 2015…based on Dr Glasser’s enablement I bought three 2015s. Just over a week ago I broached one and I was ever so impressed. I finished the last glass tonight from the fridge door vacu-vined. Really delicious stuff, a real star. I can’t imagine how the 2016 could be better, but I do have that in a case of halves and look forward to trying one.
