Marché des vins d’Ampuis - January 2026

Post by Nicklasss »

Most of you know i’m a fan of Côte Rôtie wines. Even equal to red Bordeaux.

I have e-mailed a few BWEers located on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean about that, but i will be at the Marché des vins d’Ampuis from January 22 to 25, with my brother. Kind of a ‘’dream’’ for me.

If any BWEers are around Ampuis/Lyon area at that time, let me know.

Have a fun and safe trip Nic. I look forward to reading about it.

I assume you’ll be coming home with wine. What does it cost to bring wine in from Canada?

Have a fun trip, Nic. I really like Pierre Gonon. Despite the higher prices these days. I definitely need to visit the Rhone. But first Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Good plan Joel, Bordeaux, Bourgogne, and you finish with the best of the 3, Northern Rhône.

The best?
If there were anywhere else I would live in France, it would have to be Vienne, the small city near Ampuis.
The region has everything: scenic beauty, world class red and white wine, great cuisine. And it's just a half hour from Lyon.

While I’ve visited each of these regions, how does the cost of living compare say Bdx-Burgundy-Rhone-Paris? Asking for a friend.

Nic do you fly direct from Montreal to Lyon, or via Paris?

Ian, Montreal - Lyon direct flight on the way East night of 21st to 22nd, and back West on the 27th.

JeanFred is making the trip with my bro Alex and me.

Friday night, going dinner with my brother at La Table de Philippe Girardon, 1 Michelin star.

Hope Nathalie, who was manager of Bistrot des Serines in Ampuis when i was there in 2012, is still at the Bistrot. In 2012, she made me taste like 8 wines + cheese and charcuteries… for free, because of my love and knowledge about Côte Rôtie wines!
